Ingredients and Equipment
You’ll just need two things for for this recipe:
- 1 package frozen sweet potato fries
- Nonstick cooking spray or oil sprayer
I don’t often use nonstick cooking spray in the air fryer but I use it in this recipe to help add extra crispiness to the fries.
To make this recipe as easy as possible, you’ll only need a couple of basic items from your kitchen.
It’s so simple to pop the frozen sweet potato fries in the air fryer basket and go! Shake them in the middle of cooking and then you’ll be ready to serve them.
Step by Step Instructions
The cook time on this recipe is about 15 minutes. You can make as many as fit in your air fryer basket. Cooking time may vary depending on the size of your air fryer basket.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F. If your air fryer does not have a preheat setting, you can just set it to cook for a few minutes. Preheating your air fryer helps the fries crisp up better.
- Spread the sweet potato fries in an even layer in the basket of the air fryer. Cook the fries in batches, if needed.
- Spray the fries with nonstick cooking spray and cook for 12 to 15 minutes, removing the basket halfway through the cook time to toss the fries. Sometimes I’ll toss the fries a second time as well just to make sure the hot air gets to each fry.
- When they’re crispy, take them out of the air fryer and serve them with your favorite dipping sauce or main dish!
Leftovers & Reheating
The great thing about making delicious sweet potato fries in the air fryer is that it’s easy to make just the amount that you need. So we typically don’t have leftovers. I don’t really recommend saving leftovers, but you can!
If you do store leftover fries, make sure they have cooled completely. Then put them in an airtight container and you can keep them in the fridge for 3-4 days.
To reheat leftover sweet potato fries, rreheat your air fryer to 375°F. Place a single layer of fries in the air fryer basket and air fry for 3-5 minutes or until crispy. They should crisp up okay but due to the moisture it might not be as well as freshly air fried frozen sweet potato fries.
Tips & Tricks
- Preheat your air fryer before cooking the fries. It will help you get the most even cooking and the best texture.
- Air fryer cooking times can vary from model to model. Keep an eye on your sweet potato fries as they near the end of the cooking time.
- Experiment with seasonings to up the flavor! You can toss the fries in seasoning before or after cooking. Try adding some extra salt and black pepper. Or for some heat try smoked paprika and cayenne. For a sweet take, sprinkle them with cinnamon and sugar.
