This study presents the first molecular evidence of Macrovipera razii from central Zagros, more than 300 km north-west of its prior records in southern Iran. Molecular analyses based on mitochondrial cytochrome b sequences identified the individuals from central Zagros as a lineage of M. razii. Specimens from the new localities are separated by a genetic distance of 1.46% from the known populations of M. razii. The results extend the known distribution range of M. razii as an endemic species of Iran.

The study area located in Central Iran zone and is a part of Uremieh -Dokhtar volcanic belt. The area consists of the Eocene volcanic, volcano-sediment and sedimentary units forming three marine, shallow marine and continental facieses. Middle-Upper Eocene units consists of tuffite, green tuff, siltstone, shale, limestone, conglomerate and volcanic rocks of basaltic-andesitic composition related to marine and shallow marine environments. Upper Eocene units consist of volcanic (basic, intermediate and acidic) rocks, pyroclastic rocks and ignimbrite as well as sedimentary rocks (limestone, sandstone and conglomerate). The volume of volcanic units is more than that of sedimentary units. Eocene and some Oligo-Miocene feeder dike swarms affect the Eocene volcanic units. Light is the most important factor involved in the growth of photosynthetic organisms, and low efficiency of artificial light systems imposes higher cultivation costs. Phosphorescent paints can emit light for a few hours, and so may be appropriate to accumulate scattered light. In this study, the effects of blue and green phosphorescent paints on growth rate, biomass production and chlorophyll content of three different microalgae, Scenedesmus dimorphus, Chlamydomonas reinhardtii and Chlorella vulgaris were investigated. These strains were cultivated in broth medium in three glass bowls. Half of the first two bowls was stained with blue or green phosphorescent paints (B and G treatment), while the third one was unstained and used as the control (C treatment). All measured parameters were higher in B. The results indicate that partial staining of culturing bowls by blue phosphorescent paint can be an economic approach to increase light efficiency in cultivating microalgae.

Bentonite alteration under the effect of hydrothermal fluids containing sodium hydroxide and barium chloride, at 150 degree Centigrade has been investigated. Initial sample were collected from Mehrejan, placed at 321Km east of Isfahan, powdered and examined without purification. In laboratory, Barium chloride with a variable concentrations plus sodic solutions with constant concentrations were used, where bentonite eventually transformed to Offretite, Witherite, Hydroxy sodalite and Analcime. Hydrothermal autoclaves were used to provides the conditions necessary for the experiments and run-products were characterized by X-Ray powder difractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and SEM-EDX.
