Signal Pest

Artifact Creature — Pest

Battle cry (Whenever this creature attacks, each other attacking creature gets +1/+0 until end of turn.)

Signal Pest can't be blocked except by creatures with flying or reach.

I apologize I sat down and looked at the nutz hand again. All you would have to do is replace Signal Pest with Skirk Prospector. Then not only would you have a non-token red creature, you would also have double your mana. You tap the goblin tokens to pay the cost reduction, then you can sacrifice those tokens for red mana.

As an example, this list costs well-under half of the money of your current list, but will significantly outperform it by prettymuch every metric:

Hey hey khayoz!

I went all in on go wide as my first version. It had all the Heroic spells and concentrated on buff and damage spells, no voltron:

Buff:
Metallic Mimic
Roar of Resistance
Heraldic Banner
Coat of Arms
Shared Animosity
Obelisk of Urd
Signal Pest
Konda's Banner
Eldrazi Monument
Dynacharge
Weapon Surge
Ogre Battledriver

Damage:
Throne of the God-Pharaoh
Hellrider
Impact Tremors
Witty Roastmaster
Livewire Lash

It played pretty well. Board wipes were absolutely the killer. The game becomes adding the right amount of creatures and damage without overextending. Also sometimes my little kobolds were outclassed by more powerful creatures and couldn't attack. I could have added Dolmen Gate and evasion but then we are leaving my playgroup's budget behind. This is where I discovered Descent of the Dragons and thought it would be a great finisher that's also a "buff" spell and on theme. Then that led me to Transmogrify and I've never looked back.

But the overlap approach can do work. Like Draconic Destiny adds to your voltron threat but it also enables Rosnakht to attack giving the kobolds the buff they desperately need. Dynacharge and Weapon Surge are modal so you can buff the whole team or sneak in a voltron kill.

I haven't tested all in voltron. But indestructibility might be important. Mithril Coat, Darksteel Plate, Commander's Plate, and Hammer of Nazahn might be worth a try. I just wanted something with more sizzle, style wise.

Hope this helps! Let me know what you learn!

Solid list for a budget take on Isshin, I'm digging what you have going on. I have a few quick suggestions, but I think you have a solid core here if you ever choose to make some pricier upgrades:

  • Warleader's Call could be worth a look as a potential swap with Impact Tremors. Just an additional +1/+1 static buff for 1 more White mana.

  • Signal Pest could be a potential 1 drop anthem, if you feel like you need another Battle Cry enabler.

  • Devilish Valet has the potential to 1-shot other players when combined with enough token production.

  • Anim Pakal, Thousandth Moon is one of the better token producers for Isshin to drop as of late. She pairs nicely with Breena, as another means of getting counters on her. One of the upsides for Anim Pakal is that she doesn't even need to attack, as she triggers off when you attack. She's like a more budget Adeline, Resplendent Cathar.

  • Professional Face-Breaker - I think she's still under $10, mostly recommending since I saw you have Aurelia in your deck. Face-Breaker rewards you for going wide, & could be a potential swap with either Audacious Thief or Hoarding Ogre.

  • If you feel like you need some more board protection, I'd recommend checking out Scapegoat and/or Fanatical Devotion as budget options that can squeeze a bit more value out of some of your tokens.

Glad to see you already have Soul Partition! It's become one of my favorite White cards of the past year. Best of luck with your deck, and hope you enjoy playing it irl

Pretty solid deck! Have you had a chance to play this deck irl? I have a few suggestions for potential edits:

  • I think it might be worth swapping out some of your creature slots at the 5-8 cmc range for stuff that's lower in the 1-4 range. From having played Isshin for almost 2 years, I don't think the deck needs many top-end bombs.

  • If you do trim off the top-end, I'd recommend swapping out: Witch-King of Angmar (might not deter boards that go-wide), the Ancient Dragons can probably be swapped since they're combat-damage based, and either of your 8 drops could probably be cut.

  • Ogre Battledriver is a cool haste & power anthem. Could be helpful for giving you another haste option if you keep some of your higher end creatures.

  • Breena, the Demagogue and Karazikar, the Eye Tyrant are both excellent draw for Isshin, & can compliment the Firemane Commando & Aurelia, the Law Above that you already have in mainboard.

  • Taunt from the Rampart could replace one of your board wipes, maybe Cleansing Nova, & compliment the cards from the previous bullet.

-Legion Loyalist, Signal Pest, & Reconnaissance are all excellent 1 drops for Isshin. Reconnaissance can essentially be a pseud0-vigilance anthem that saves your creatures from combat; this EDHREC artcle explains how the timing works.

I hope these suggestions were helpful. Down to chat through additional suggestions if you're up for it, if not, no worries. Best of luck with the deck

Overall very solid deck. My only recommendations would be to cut your Dragon Engine and Samurai that aren't Isshin, and to slot in Dolmen Gate to help round out the board protection suite you have with Iroas, Reconnaissance, & Teferi's Protection. The Samurai, although flavorful, are your only cards that care about single attacking Warriors/Samurai, while most of your deck wants to go wide.

Some of the following could be potential creature slot replacements:

I hope these suggestions are helpful. Down to chat through more if you're interested. Best of luck

Congrats on those early Ws! Those must have felt encouraging.

Another great card for Isshin is Hero of Bladehold. It was recently reprinted in a precon, so that version is fairly accessible. Accorder Paladin & Signal Pest are also helpful antheming creatures to round out a Battle Cry package.

Blightfang is cool for sure; the suggestions for Death touch anthems were to really get more value out of it. Also death touch anthems are super helpful for aggro in general.

The awesome part about Isshin is that there's tons of attack triggers available to him. He can be built in a variety of different manners, & can adjust to various playgroups pretty well.

Best of luck with your continued adjustments & future games. Happy to spit-ball suggestions if you're ever looking for them.

Surprising that Signal Pest hasn't been a consideration, and if we're looking at classic value for Affinity, I think I'd recommend Barricade Breaker, Sojourner's Companion, and Sanctum of Ugin to get to that value a little faster. Overall, this build is really cool, and inherently I love the fact it's "Mono Green". "Scales" is a longtime favorite strategy of mine and I really loved your list.
