It’s wonderful seeing my prep work growing again on my Hope Centre, as it has been put aside to finish another WIP!!!!
Now its on to applqiueing down my bows stage and making up my doilies I need 4? ???
My Doilies as I made them from the top. I ironed on some light weight interfacing then shrunk one of the embroidery stitches and sewed my hatch cross lines. cut out my shape, added my tiny applqiue drops and scallops which are cut out as one piece from iron on fussing fabric!
Then over to the machine and appliqued those tiny pieces to my centre using a double blanket stitch, love how it makes the wee doillie Pop. Now to make 3 more!
I couldn’t wait to make my wee dolls, I think they are so so cute, their dresses are made from irononfussing but their heads are hand made and have a tiny bits of wadding behind them to make them 3 D. I’m working on one corner at a time most of the time!!!!! My fusing is lifting off because of the high temps and humidity, so I iron on one piece, machine or hand sew it down, then add another piece of applqiue, its slow but it works????
Love how the machine applique and coloured thread change the look of the fabric?.
4 bows were all most completed and then on the last 8inches to go disaster hits me? My machine chewed up the fabric after unpicking all the chewed thread my edge of the bow was badly frayed, I could not cover that edge with machine applique?
I cut out a slither of the same fabric and ironed it over the frayed area?
Then machine appliquéd as usual, it has covered 2/3 rds of the slither but I needed to anchor that other part of the slither some how to stop it lifting in the first wash!!!!!
Out with the DMC embroidery threads, using two threads and a number 10 long milliners needle I made up 3 tiny tiny bees
My wee bee’s look like they ahve just landed LOL Disaster avoided I think???
First ?I made Sue’s Bonnet I added Blue French knots to add a wee touch of colour to the lace. She is now waiting for me to finish sorting out what her dress is going to be !!!!!
Going to see if I can find any thing in the gardena after a weeks rain!!!!!

What I hate about the wet season, our lovely white beams covered with mould? They have to be wiped down with a strong chlorine to kill it?

Golden orb spider build the most complected webs, so fine and so large.
Stag plant, Have just removed the rope hold it to the palm, his own outer leaf is holding him to the trunk now.

Wonderful little bees! Your Hope is so soft and beckoning. I made a start on Hope and it is slow with those tiny dots! Had to unpick two and rethink and that used a good stretch of sewing time but, like your bees, I found a solution before it was ruined. Sewing is all about challenges and improvisation.
Those purple and pink flowers are fabulous! And I see the colors reflected in your Hope.
Hi Lennea, how is your eye after the last operation????? Been thinking about you and realise I need to go and see the eye specialist as I have noticed when I’m cutting out with the rotary blade I’m cutting just to the left of the lines instead of on the line which I think I am cutting?????? Yes my flowers have a huge influence on my quilts, even when I try to be very light on my colours they re still bright as I’m surrounded with exotic colours all year round, there is some thing blooming or trunks and limbs are bright with colour???? For me I think I love quilting so much as there are all ways challenges; so it keeps you motivated. Cheers Glenda
Oh Glenda your work is so beautiful and inspiring. You seem to have a solution for everything…the little bees are perfect! Glad that you are back to enjoying your machine work – hope the knee is doing exactly what it is supposed to do.
Dear Alison how lovely to hear from you. My last 6 months have been so hectic with that complete knee replacement thrown in!!!! It is still not 100% but have been told give it a year !!!! I had planned on finishing several UFO’s while recovering but Murphy’s Law had other plans and nothing got done!!!! This year I have started yet another quilt I hope does not become a UFO too? This week flew past with 3 days staying with one of my family and been spoilt and having fun wi the Grandie’s!!!! Finally back playing with Hope!!!! Cheers Glenda
Oh my gosh, Glenda — those bumble bees are a BRILLIANT fix for your disaster!! No one would ever in a million years guess why you put them there. I think you should add a few more embroidered bumblebees, ladybugs, etc in your Hope garden, in other blocks. They are such a delicious detail!
Hi Rebecca, my week has dissapeared with 3 days away from my computer and sewing!!!! I missed my sewing so much in those 3 days. Thank goodness I was able to do Irononfussing with my Darling Granddaughter two days???? She made a lovely piece of fabric wall art. Will write about it in this weeks blog. Have made some progress on my Hope but its all just prep nothing is sewn down in the first border. Have fun in the sun when it finally arrives for you LOL Cheers Glenda
