maxitrols build thread -car now up for sale
« on: January 19, 2014, 11:20:05 pm »
My g/f said she had bought me a xmas present in 2004 a 2.0 gttdi-it came at the time with every mod possible ie full leather,6 disc and 8 speakers-the winter pack and the 17" estoril alloys..

this is the only picture i have in standard spec

The first mod

The car was only 2 months old and i changed the audio

changed the speakers to these all round

then put in a header unit. After 9 different ones i settled on this

by luck i purchased the ipod shelf of e bay for £40

Also put the alpine black bird sat nav in

Last year i purchased some geniune R32 alloys with brand new tyres for £700 of e-bay and some R32 lights
and a private number plate

bought orig r32 alloys with the tractor look

got a remap done at awesome-which transformed the car-i went back down thier to get the map tweaked but the turbo blow up on thier rollers(no fault of Awesomes)

So i was saving up like mad for some coil overs to get rid of the tractor look and got kw v1 fitted. These pictures where took straight after fitting, the kw have settled now and it is a bit lower..

After the dreaded white worm had attacked the rear badge i purchased the new 3d ones but it sticked out by 2mm which i didn't like

so i got the orig flat badge and got my mate to paint the front and back badges and i debadged it..

Then got these fitted

got high line clocks fitted thanks to Skard-not took any pics of these yet

Rolling shot of my car(thanks Chris_mk4_golf

photo taken by austin at panelcare in rochdale

Darren came to my works today and the plan was to go from this

and fit this R32 steering wheel

but then me and Darren swapped and i got this instead

Just like to thank Darren(mortygttdi) for fitting this today
After 2 long months i would like to thank TurboTrev for saving these for me until i got the cash together 19" bbs ck..my car had orig R32 alloys on..

i had my car detailed last year just before summer as the swirls in the sun light were starting to annoy me every time the sun hit my car and been pearlescent black been one of the worst colours for showing swirls etc...After a few months i stupidly rushed to get my car clean to go to a show and put some swirls in the bonnet and down the sides :stupid:
I contacted Rich after seeing pics of his car perfectly cleaned..i went up to Rich house today and this is the results

The finish Rich got on the paint work is amazing and his eye for detail is excellent..
Thank you Rich for today & it was good to meet you
i know this is a bit a marmite mod but i like it

head lights changed for the dark gti ones..

having seen a similiar post i thought i would try this little mod on my car by changing the white reverse lens to a red one out of my old light.....a small little mod but looks a lot better now
before

after

after seeing Chuffs build thread and his lcr splitter..thought it looked excellent so i fitted one to mine and also painted the calipers red and redid the dust sheilds black..the only pic i have is this one taken at the show on sat-

bought these R32 calipers of e-bay last week

then finally got them fitted today, just got the retaining clip to fit

R32 rear brakes fitted also

full miltek non res fitted

vortex front splitter

arrived thier a bit early but they got my car set up on the rollers awaiting for the arrival of Nick..he ran it as standard and it was pushing out 153bhp...then Nick mapped the car and the result is

took a 4hr drive to see Chris and get the alpine ine s900r fitted today--when Chris removed my old header unit (alpine 320 with sat nav & ipod interface) he was shocked to see how a top Company that was in sunderland had wired up and botched the install..Chris reconnect the wires and installed the new unit..the bonus bit was the buttons on my mk6 steering wheel works now as well...its a excellent bit of kit now i have got the hang of it---i went for this unit over the rns10 because i am running to amps and a sub in the boot--also averaged 56mpg so all in all a good day for me

Thanks to Richwig

cars still running fine--at r/r dayi ts running a revo standard map

Alloys refurb at the wheel specialist at Newcastle

got car detailed at get polished

Took a little road trip to Darrons house (mortrygttdi) also like to thank Richn83 for supplying the polar fis unit

BUT the best bit is

Darron cr hybrid stage 2--can't wait to get it fitted

thanks rich for polar fis

vw fest 2012 harewood house

Thanks Gulfstream for giving this to me at vw fest show

took this at a local meet

took a trip down to Chorley to get my amps removed as i was sick of not been able to get to my spare--so from this

this was took at the vagcar meet at necc

thought i would try a different snow foam-good reports on detailing world

it foams very well

After a rinse

led side lights fitted

Had a hid kit fitted but took it back out as the lights were dazzleing other drivers so i put these in the main beam and dip beam

Sorted out the battery clanp that a so called audio tuner had done

to this

changed my side lights from the led ones to the philips blue vision 5w5

put ring xenon extreme in head lights and main beam

What's going on here

New switchs

Fitted s3 gear selector for shorter gear change

My car at Necc getting ready for Harewood house 2013

Pic of the flakes in the paint

Harewood 2013

Also got the sticker i have been after for a long time

Ed fitted tmps tomy car

Also the proper high line clocks

S3 intercooler getting fitted

Cheap mod--dark cherry red hazzard switch

the oem one

mini meet at mine for retro fitting by Ed

had rear foot well illumination fitted

Fitted led number plate bulbs

Ever since i got my alpine ines900r header unit i have always wanted it to show in the high line part of the dash but nobody knew if it would work with a mk6 steering wheel and the inerface cable been £85 i thought better of it..Then Dandave got a cable to work on his,so i bought the cable for mine and fitted it tonight

Since taking my audio out like the amps etc--thought it was time to put them back in starting with descreet sub box

the audio has arrived

boot build with a false floor

well having made the disission to put myamps back in the boot and sub i wanted to put the VW symbol in the boot and i needed it cutting out of mdf but asi dont have any wood work tools i thought i would ring round a few joiners but the prices were stupid--so i looked on ebay and found this that cost £7

so in the boot

once in place and carpeted over  should look ok
few out side work

gettin ready for fitted uk at weatherby

Getting good mpg at 80mph

new little mod
new milltek back box

this is the old style back box

The new one fitted

the difference

side by side

Thanks to Dave(ddm) for fitting these  prowerflex bushs

little shot at work

Led interior bulbs fitted

using my snow foam at home

built slowly getting there

With the help of mateyguv i thouht i would have a go at the full brake light mod
got the bulbs of Bold sport

and ended up with this

realised I haven't got a up to date picture of in side my car

egr cooler  delete Big thanks to Dave (DDM) for this two jobs

the finished boot build with the amps under the false floor
Another massive thanks to Dave  for fitting them and Damo for supplying the door lights

What a great start to your build thread  :happy2:  Keep up the good work !
Looks like it didn't stay standard for too long  :signLOL:

The screens in the headrests are klass :rolleye: Time to get in the back to watch a movie !

Also when you got the golf detailled, it really made a difference to the car  :congrats:  Black is a nice colour when kept on top off  :happy2:
If it's not broke, Mod it.....

Silver is the way !

Stunning Motor.  :congrats:

I love it Andy. Looks perfect mate.

Far more mods  than I thought!  :notworthy:
I love the footwell lighting.

Is the Hazard Warning switch easy to fit? I got mine delivered the other day.

I'm really wanting a couple of interior lighting mods myself.
I want another Boot light on the passenger side, and also I'd like the footwell lighting to stay on at night.
