«Slime Fountain»

Since Minecraft Beta version 1.3, slimes became common. I remember back before they were removed, they were my favorite "enemy" in the game. The idea behind a slime is if you kill one, it breaks apart into multiple smaller ones. The smallest can't hurt you, and if you kill them you get slime balls. In multiplayer however, they're buggy as hell right now.

Take this medium sized slime that spawned in my mob grinder collection room.

I thought he was cute, so I had him follow me up the stairs to the surface where my creeper temple is. Big mistake...

This 1 medium sized slime got stuck in the fountain at my creeper temple and drowned to death... Splitting into multiple HUGE slimes, then they drowned and- OH GOD WHY!?!

I managed to climb the ladder up the wall to safety, and look down in horror as they kept multiplying; spewing forth from the fountain. It was actually quite entertaining. But alas, when I logged out and back in most of them were gone.

«Golden Creepers»

The very important feature that was missing from my temple before was the 2 golden creeper statues.

«Towers Done, Temple Built»

I suppose I should give an update to what I've been doing on the Minecraft server.

My mob grinder is done. I think it's currently the largest one on the server. Since it's multiplayer, its performance varies greatly. Things like the number of people on and server lag affect the output. From what I've read, grinders always have a lower output in multiplayer when compared to singleplayer. Still; 7,500 items/hour isn't anything to scoff at. Click an image to view full.

Here's my completed sandstone mob grinding towers.

Here's the temple I've built on the surface above the collection room access. There's one very important feature missing still, and I don't yet have the materials required to build it.

«Hollow Mountain»

I stumbled across this cavern in Minecraft. It's a naturally hollow mountain. I should do something with it later...

«Tower As Seen From Atrium»

My tower in the mulitplayer Minecraft server I play on extends from the build limit all the way down into the ground to bedrock.

This is my favorite view of the tower, standing at sea level inside my atrium.

«Name That Beak»

With the help of a friend, I have acquired a Blighted Beak for my medic in Team Fortress 2. I also happen to have a Name Tag, allowing me to name an item.

It's modeled after the primitive respirators worn by plague doctors in the middle ages.

What should I name this mask? The default name is "Blighted Beak". Surly there's a better name I could give it. Never mind that he's playing violin on his bone saw1.

1: Yes, I know that's actually the Amputator weapon.

«Snow Globe»

Behold, the Minecraft Snow Globe!
Giant snow globe built in Minecraft

I built that on the multiplayer server I've been playing on. The glass sphere has a diameter of 50 blocks, each block is equivalent to 1 cubic meter. I have plans to build a giant pumpkin inside the globe. Those grey blocks suspended inside the globe mark the corners of the planned pumpkin. Yes, it will be a cubic pumpkin of gargantuan proportions... If I can find enough smaller pumpkins to build it out of.

«Ugly Dome»

I got a couple of blocks higher than I was last time. I had taken a break from Minecraft to play a little Fallout New Vegas.

The dome is sort of ugly from the outside. When I complete the top half I'll have to do something about that.

«The Walls Rise»

It's coming along in Minecraft, ever so slowly.
Minecraft World map

The first thing you'll notice that's different from the Halloween map is that there's a lot more land, so in the thumbnail the details are going to be smaller.

I sailed in a boat along the coastline until I found a snow biome. Now I have a pretty good showing of all the major biomes. Snow/Ice in the left, forest in the center, desert and plains on the right.

Looking at my mega-project, I've filled in the water within the circle, leveled more land, and put 32 layers on the walls. It's starting to take a dome shape now. I don't plan on doing a complete dome; I want an opening at the top. Similar to the dome of the Pantheon in Rome. Although my opening will be bigger in relation to the dome.

How it looks in-game. I forgot to disable the fog when I took this screenshot.

I figure I need at least 22 more layers.

«Mountain Moved»

I have moved a mountain, and it was not by the power of prayer...

The footprint of the mountain is the grey stone and brown dirt. The mountain is gone.

Damn that took a long time... And that's only stage 1 of my Minecraft mega-project. No, I'm not going to tell you what is is going to be... Because I'm not sure what to call it yet.

«Resuming Minecraft»

Happy Halloween!

Halloween officially started in Sweden at 4:00 PM in my timezone yesterday. The Minecraft Halloween update was on time. That means I can finally start my new world and begin my mega-project I've been planning.

I'm still keeping my old save, but I wanted to start a new world to take advantage of the new biomes feature. Deserts and forests and tundra, oh my!

I generated a few worlds and explored a little to get the feel of Biomes. I finally settled on this world to start my mega-project in. This world has not generated any snowy biomes yet. If you look close you can see parts of a large circle towards the center of the map. It's the outline of my mega-project.

«Minecraft: Tower Interior»

I've been working on the inside of my tower in Minecraft lately. I've been placing decorations and making distinct rooms. Click an image to view full.

But before we get to the inside pictures, I wanted to show a couple more of outside. This is looking up the cliff toward the tower. Here you can really see the lavafall from the stone bastion.
Lavafall from stone bastion

And a view from the very top of the tower, well above the clouds. You're at the top of the world up here.
View from the top of the tower
Now we'll step inside on the main floor. This level doesn't really serve much purpose other than to be big and flashy. Do you like the lava fountain with gold blocks on top? It's actually part of the same lava system in the first picture. It flows throughout the tower.
Main floor
The rest of the floors are a little more cozy. My kitchen is through those doors on the left.
Decorated room
As with any mining operation, you need a place to smelt and process your materials. I've got 12 coal-fired furnaces in the foundry.
Minecraft foundry
I built a minecart system. It goes to a place I plan on strip-mining a lot of material out of. When I fill a cart at the other end I send it on its way and this system sends out the next empty cart automatically.
Minecart freight depot
Even though you don't actually sleep in the game, I thought it would be nice to have a bedroom.
Minecraft bedroom
What good is a castle without a few hidden rooms and a nice big treasure vault? I took measures to hide the entrance to my vault. The lever that unlocks it is also hidden. The vault is lined with obsidian; immune to explosives and takes forever to mine through. This is where I keep my diamonds, gold, mossy cobblestone and all other manner of rarities I can collect in the game.
Obsidian vault
The vault isn't complete yet, but I made sure the incomplete part didn't show in the screenshot. I need to go mine more obsidian...

«Minecraft Tower»

While it is not yet complete, I wanted to share a screenshot of the tower I built in Minecraft. Yes, that's lava cascading down. There's a lava fountain inside.
Marf's Minecraft Tower

The interior still needs a lot of work though. Couldn't build the tower any taller, I hit the maximum build height. That's what I get for building it on the top of a mountain.

«Minecraft Screenshots»

Just figured I'd share some screenshots of my Minecrafting. This game is like playing with Legos; you mine material and build stuff with it. Click an image to view full.

I have a tower down on the beach and one on the mountaintop over there. They act as beacons so when I'm out exploring I know how to get back. The mountaintop is also the location of my current home. It's just made of cobblestone, but it does its job.
Distant view of mountaintop beacon
The entrance to my main mineshaft. What you don't see is the labyrinth of passageways I've created down there. I have a spiral shaft that goes all the way down to bedrock (the bottom of the map) with all sorts of horizontal shafts that branch off of at various levels.
Mine entrance
This mountain is the location of my future home. I have plans for an epic castle up there, but so far all I've got is my glass observation sphere built. It's built of glass (duh) and obsidian. It's going to take a while to mine the resources I need for the castle. It's a long term project.

«Sim City 4: Mithral»

This is the industrial wasteland city I was talking about in the post about Thaylambar.
Mithral, the city of industry and trains

No one lives here. No one would want to live here. In fact, no one could live here. Not with the levels of pollution in this city. I suspect everyone who works here has to wear a gas mask and breathing apparatus to work. Many coal power plants are scattered throughout the city. Industry requires a lot of electricity, and coal is nice and cheap... And dirty. All the other cities in the region buy their power from here. They also export all their garbage to Mithral to be incinerated. You can't see it in the picture, but there's a toxic waste dump in the city for nuclear waste.

Most every Sim in my region commutes to and works in Mithral. There is an overly elaborate rail system to get everyone to work. The elevated rail system is tied in with the heavy rail system. The mass transit fares alone bring in enough money to cover all of Mithral's expenses. It would be a hell of a city to ask for directions in. I purposely made the road and rail network chaotic; it adds to the dirty look of the city.

A lot of time and effort has been put into this city. The whole city is like a giant puzzle trying to get everything to connect together. It may not look it, but it is the gem of my region.

«SimCity 4: Thaylambar»

Out in the farmlands of the city of Thaylambar, a strange shape appeared in the crops... Is it the work of aliens, or divine pasta?
Flying Spaghetti Monster in SimCity 4.

I figured out I could use avenue roundabouts as the meatballs and road roundabouts for the eyes of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. The city of Thaylambar has been touched.

Thaylambar is another of my cities I've been working on. It has a population of 99,000; yet the majority of the land is used as farmland.
Overview of Thaylambar

I'm keeping the population poor and dumb. The reason is I'm working on a large industrial wasteland in a neighboring city, and I needed the demand for dirty industrial. As it turns out, only the poor and stupid are willing to work in a heavily polluted wasteland where you have to wear a gas mask to get to work. Who knew?

As a result, I cleaned up the industry in Ishau. I moved all the dirty industry to my wasteland city. Now there is only clean high-tech industry in Ishau. Also, the people in Ishau have proper schools are are fairly well off.

«SimCity 4: Ishau»

I've been wanting to play a city simulator again for a while. I haven't read very good reviews of Cities XL, and from what I've seen I don't like how zoning works in it anyway. So I've went back to SimCity 4. Click an image to view full.

I started a brand new region, so right now my biggest city only has a population of 15,000. I named it Ishau.
Main part of Ishau
As you can see, I'm using the Network Addon Mod. This is what allows me to have all the roundabouts and that odd highway intersection (among other things).

Because the roundabouts are a new feature to me, I went a little overboard on them.
Residential district of Ishau with a plethora of roundabouts.
I always have a tendency to build things with a symmetrical pattern, so I've been trying my damndest to avoid patterns, especially in the industrial district. I was going for a dirty, messy, chaotic look.

«Have a Whale»

Twitter has a few issues, doesn't it? Random 503 server errors, failing to follow or delete something, and now they gave me a whale:
Twitter's Fail Whale

I suppose 8 birds would be over capacity if they tried to lift a whale... I guess it's called the "Fail Whale" and it can be quite common to see. There's over 100 tweets a day about seeing the whale, so you can bet there's a lot more people that just ignore it.

«I Can't Believe It's Not Fabio!»

Up to generation 8 in my Sims 3 Legacy. Little Emily was born!

Stacy grew up and got married to Alex. Alex reminds me so much of Fabio Lanzoni.
Alex Zenge, the Sims 3 Fabio look-alike.

Click image to view full. "I can't believe it's not butter!"

They had a daughter they named Emily. She has blue smurf-skin like her mother. I plan on having a large 8th generation, so more children should follow once there's room in the household.

In a lot of ways, I'll be glad when I reach the 10th generation and this is over. The game is starting to get repetitive and a little boring. I'm probably just burning myself out. The only thing that's kept me going this long is the Grim Reaper's collecting escapades. Bugs and plutonium are not the only things he's collecting.

«Radiation Protest»

Once again, this is about my Sims 3 Legacy1.

The Grim Reaper just acquired another plutonium rock, and when he sent it in to get smelted and purified, he got 5 ingots back! That makes a total of 7 bars of plutonium, I'm aiming for 15 of each metal. Click an image to view full.

As you can see, I have 15 of every metal now, except plutonium.
Stacks of metals in the Sims 3
I think the public has taken notice. I found a group of sims in front of the city hall protesting radiation.
Protesting sims
No worries, the Leader of the Free World (aka the Sim President) is David, and he's secretly evil and in league with Grim. He'll make sure this little protest goes nowhere.

1: Why do I keep saying that this is about my Sims 3 legacy? Because there's always that one person that didn't read any of my other posts and they ask what game this is in.
