I am writing to let you know that unfortunately, due to personal circumstances, Mr Gebbett (Steve) will no longer be working with us at The Bawburgh School.
He has had a profound impact on music at Bawburgh including supporting school performances, developing children’s singing for the children’s operas and competitions and has brought a huge amount of passion and enthusiasm for music into our school. He really has been a wonderful addition to our school and I know that his presence will be greatly missed by both staff and children.
Regretfully, this does mean that there will be no 1:1 piano lessons this term. Parents of children who were to receive 1:1 lessons will be issued a full refund for this term.
Additionally, there will be some changes to choir. I am dedicated to ensuring that choir continues so that we can still take part in the Norfolk County Music Festival. To enable this, we are bringing in another fabulous musician, Mark Read, who is also beginning his role as musician in residence at Barford this term. This does however mean that choir will move to a Monday, rather than a Friday. I understand that this may impact some children’s attendance due to other commitments but unfortunately this is the only day we can facilitate choir for this term.
There will be no choir this week. Choir will begin on Monday with myself and Mark.
Children are not aware of these changes yet, however I will be sharing all of this information with them today in assembly.
We are looking at and planning out what music will look like during the summer term and we will keep you informed of any new and exciting opportunities that may arise.
