Head to the Mai Tai Bar!
A friend of mine recommended this place and it didn't disappoint. Where to begin.
Let me start with the gorgeous view of the beach. You can enjoy your food and drinks while you take in the beauty of the beach.
Everything about the Mai Tai Bar deserves 5 stars. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. Service is on point!
We waited in line for 10 minutes maybe less. It's a popular place. You can forgo the line if you want to sit at the bar.
The Mai Tai's are refreshing and pack a little punch. It's a great cocktail! They have a nice variety of food and drinks here. We only had a couple of drinks here because we had just ate.
You can walk out to the beach from there. We went out and took some selfies while the sun began to set.
This is handsdown my favorite place for drinks and will be going back to try more drinks and have some food.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Oct 26, 2024
Service to sit at a table was quick but with all the individuals running around, you kinda had to wait to be asked if you needed help. Music in the evening was a nice additive to the outdoor ambiance.
Tried their classic Mai tai that does the job, but did not feel like it was worth the $20. Truly just alike to some of the $5 Mai tai spots, just topped with a pineapple chunk and flower.
Mushroom on the burger is the same size as a patty, as opposed to smaller mushroom pieces. Meat patty itself was small and thin, overall making the burger kinda funky to eat. Occasionally a bite would be too hard to come apart because the mushroom was tough or slimier in areas. Fries came with and were pretty good though!
Indoor restrooms were closed at the time of my visit so I was long windedly directed through an alternative restaurant to outdoor restrooms attached to the pool (?) area. Will note that this was a baby cockroach palace, so beware if you're not looking to do your business around crawlers...Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 25, 2024Updated review3 check-ins
Marriott 'til I die, but The Mai Tai Bar at the Royal Hawaiian keeps stealing my heart (and my happy hour) every time I'm in Honolulu! The ocean views? Iconic. The drinks? Next level. This time, I indulged in the White Wash--topped with not one, but TWO floats! Bacardi light rum, Ferrand Dry Curacao, orgeat, fresh lime & pineapple juices, a float of Whaler's dark rum, and their signature coco-loco foam. Pure liquid Aloha. only thing better than
the view is the service. Cheers to paradise in a glass--can't wait to return!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 23, 2023Previous reviewAlways an incredible time at the Mai Tai Bar. The Royal Hawaiian and the White Wash were my favorite Mai tais (they have several). It's the best stop on a break from swimming. The ocean is steps away so the view is breathtaking as well. Currently they have live holiday music daily until Christmas Day. 5 out of 5 stars!
Jan 12, 2022Previous reviewNot only is this bar located ON the fabulous Waikiki beach but it's connected to the famous Royal Hawaiian hotel. The Mai Tai bar (obviously) has great classic mai tais, but they offer twists on their menu. Not only that but the bartenders offer their delicious twists (based on your likes) that aren't even on the menu. The poke is amazing and the view is out of this world. This is a must stop for people on vacay.
Jan 5, 2022Previous reviewThis was my first time back to Hawaii and the Royal Hawaiian specifically since the pandemic and it didn't disappoint. The only reason I gave 4 stars in lieu of 5 is because of the major upswing in prices of cocktails (the average $21/ea). The service however, is top notch. For example: When I arrived about 10 minutes in there was a torrential downpour (as can happen in Hawaii in December); Chad not only moved us over to cover but offered towels and umbrellas. I didn't have food this time but the person next to me had the poke bowl and it looked amazing.

We were looking for a good bar and ended up here, didn't realize it would be in the beautiful Royal Hawaiian Hotel! The Pink Palace where even the Christmas tree was pink! Had a great relaxing time at the bar, even caught a glimpse of the dancers at the luau on the other side of the bar. Had to try the Pink Snowball for fun because it's their signature dessert.

Great vibes for drinks and bites by the beach! We went after dinner and loved sitting by the beach. Lots of drink options - popular for their mai tais with fruity notes!

Came here on a Sunday sunset drink time. It was pretty busy and we got seated around after waiting five minutes and after we put our drinks in, we went to go watch the sunset. When we came back, we found out that our server had assumed that we had left and canceled our order so we had to wait another 30 minutes to get another table as well as put our drinks in again which was severely disappointing. Our first server was really rude, but our new server was nice and polite so I think it's based on luck. Overall, the ambience was really nice with good music and good vibes but just be prepared for long waiting times for service. However, I will say the drinks here were very good and I would definitely recommend coming here if you're in Waikiki!

4 stars for the environment, facing the sea, very relax. The Lilikoi & Mango Mule is too sour for me. The Royal Hawaiian Mai Tai is good.

Cute bar and liked that you could access it right off the beach. It was fairly easy for us to get a table for 2. Obviously had to get mai tais here. Not sure if they were bad mai tais or my friend and I just don't like mai tais (we both have never had one before) but it wasn't our favorite! The drinks were still cute though and we had a good time. Good place to check off the list but probably wouldn't come back.

Service is fantastic, the drinks are AMAZING and the fries with the truffle aioli were delish.
It was so conveniently located just by our rented beach chairs A-17. We also ordered while lounging at the pool in the Royal Hawaiian.
The blended coconut mint mojito was absolutely incredible! It was by far my favorite drink.Helpful 13Thanks 0Love this 16Oh no 0
