That was quick, considering that we got the first snow only last week. This ice fisher at Lower Lake Rudan in Handen told me that the ice was around 5 cm thick. I took the photo yesterday, today it is raining a bit and it is 2C.

Because of the alignment it looks like fisherman has his back leaning on the tree. Ice fish is one of the most boring things I have ever done.

Pimpelfiskare brukar vara så ivriga att ge sig ut på isarna att det inte spelar någon roll om det bär eller brister... Men samtidigt förstår jag dem till viss del för det kan nog uppfattas som himla spännande (även om det inte är den typ av fiske jag pysslat med hittills.) Det är en fin scen du fångat i alla fall!

My brother lives on a lake in Minnesota, and people there like to ice fish. But many of them have little huts over their hole in the ice, with electrical generators. I think the men spend more effort creating their little man-space to watch football and drink beer than actually fishing.

Not for very long. We are expecting %c for the next fed days.
That ice isn't thick enough for me to go out there! They all have little heated huts here that are pulled out onto the lakes so you are toasty while you fish.

I wouldn't trust my safety on 5 cm of ice. This is popular in the far northern US, particularly among people of Swedish and Norwegian heritage.
