Han Dian TCM Pte Ltd 汉典中医

*sponsored

Great feast during Chinese New Year had piled up a few kg on me.
All the fats were target on my tummy and upper arms which I had my cunning way of hiding them with a bit of fashion sense.  So everybody was going "You where got fat?"  "You look ok leh!".  Scroll down for my confession.....

Han Dian TCM  汉典中医 extended their expertise in slimming to me, just in time.

I was a very difficult patient with irregular meals and late sleeping habit.  With Dr Chung Shu Feng who attended me with empathy, I lose 2.1kg with 3 acupuncture sessions and 2 sets of capping treatment from 10 to 28 Feb 2014.  No medication was prescribed (except for flu medicine).
10 Feb - 50.3kg was over weight for my height of 145cm, my ideal weight is 45kg.
3 Mar - my last treatment at Han Dian was 28 Feb,  but weight drops further on 3 Mar.

There's nothing I can do with my height, but with determination and help from Han Dian TCM, I looked taller with a slimmer body.

Acupuncture Slimming + NegativeIons Dexotification
(针灸减肥  +  负离子)

Now, you are seeing acupuncture needles all over my rounded tummy and legs.  Some clips were attached to the needles for further stimulation.

The above pic of my tummy reminds me of the bao I had, round round one.  But the bao is cute, not my tummy -____-

The process -
* Acupuncture needles were poke (sorry, can't find another more refine word) onto arms, tummy and plenty of them on legs.  Cushioned with a thick layer of fats beneath, my tummy didn't feel the needles most of the time.  The painful areas were on my hands and legs.  The pain was only a few seconds after insertion, then they don't feel a thing.  But I had to lie very still cos' it's painful if I move.  I find it very stressful for me to lie still.  I like to wriggle about, not being able to move for about 30mins was a torture to me.

* Some clips were attached to the needles and when the machine was on, it vibrates a little, no pain, slightly ticklish.

* After the needles were taken out, cling wrap around tummy and thighs with body sculpting cream follow by a NegativeIons Detoxification blanket.  Barely there feel, but was always reminded not to touch the wall beside the bed as the currents would be running in my body.  Dr Chung also mentioned that I can't be in body contact with anybody during the process.  Cling wrapped areas perspired after 30 mins.

I did think much of the reminders as I didn't feel a thing.  Until this once, my hubby was with me, when I passed him my handphone for him to take pictures, our fingers touched and we kena painful electric shock. From then, I know this NegativeIons Detoxification thingy is not child's play.  20 mins with the NegativeIons Detoxification blanket is equivalent to 2hrs of exercise.  At the same time, it improves physical resistance and enhance healing of our bodies.

How it works -
Acupuncture improves functions of organs contributing to better metabolism rate and suppress appetite.  In between the 3 sessions of acupuncture slimming sessions, I had an "Apples Meal Day" eating only apples, which helps to expel water retention.  Followed by a "Milk Day" which I only drank milk for a day as a natural way of detox and flushing out impurities.  No hunger bangs, amazing right?

After 3 sessions of acupuncture, I didn't grow any love with the needles.  So I switched to cupping.

Cupping Slimming  +  NegativeIons Dexotification
(拔罐减肥  +  负离子)

The process -
*  A special medicated cream for "opening" the pores and vessels was applied on areas to be cupped.  Cupped areas were the same as acupuncture - arms, legs and tummy.

*  Hot air was introduced into the blue glass cups with fire.  Placed firmly onto skin and it sucks tightly creating temporary circle bruises.  The slight pain was converted to shiokness on me.  I love it and I didn't mind the red marks.  They could be covered up with long pants/knee length skirt and a short sleeve top.  But most of the time, I don't give a damn, lolxx...

Cupping bruises got very very dark red when I ate spicy and heaty food the day before treatment >.<
Though the bruises looked really bad, I assure you, it's not painful.  They were like giant love bites, lolxxx.....

*  NegativeIons Detoxification blanket for 15mins together with the capping.  Another 15mins with cling wrap after removing the caps.

How it works -
It works much like acupuncture but in a slower mood - 1X acupuncture = 3X cupping sessions.  Even so, cupping was more comfortable to me.  The only set back was that this method of treatment has to be done in 3 consecutive days which was quite a strain to my schedule.  I had done 2 sets of cupping slimming = 6 times in total.

Acupuncture slimming is S$1500 for 20 sessions, results guaranteed.  You may called up to enquire for consultant and trial session.

Xndo Meal Replacement Review

I bought these load of Xndo slimming products before CNY.
I managed to lose about half kg and as expected gained it back within the first few days of CNY.

I know there are some people who doesn't gain weight no matter how much they eat.   Unfortunately, I do not belonged to this group of people.  I belonged to the group whereby swallow saliva also can get fat TT____TT   fml........

I bough Shirataki Noodles to replace rice and instant noodles.
I don't understand why people thinks that bee hoon is less fattening.
For heaven's sake, bee hoon is made of rice.

Back to Shirataki Noodles, basic cooking directions are on the package.

Each box contain 3 packets of noodles.

One packet is filling enough for me, but those who just started with dieting, it's perfectly ok to take 2 packets.  After all, 2 packets is only 6 cal.  Compared to 2 bowls of rice at 500 cal is already a huge cut.

Lazy me sometimes prepare Shirataki Noodles with fried garlic, light soya sauce, some lettuce plus an egg as lunch.

I don't know why Xndo had stopped selling meals with rice.
All meals are with Shirataki Noodles.

Vegetarian Prawn & Chicken Hor Fun with Wolfberries (359 cal)

Savoury vegetarian ingredients with sweet wolfberries.
Taste not bad although I don't really like vegetarian food.
As you can see, ingredients are very generous.

Chili Crab Hor Fun (162 cal)
It was quite expensive but I couldn't remember the price.

The gravy was surprising delicious, rich but not too spicy.
Only one small piece of crab meat which was on the metal spoon.
If you want to buy this flavour, need to add in your own fish balls or something -.-

Teriyaki Chicken Hor Fun (223 cal)
I bought 5 boxes and gotten another 5 for free at their promotion.

Yummy, but got more potatoes than chicken meat, 2 pieces of chinese mushroom soft and well braised.
Taste of chicken meat had improved very much compared to previously
Click here for my previous review.

Lemon Honey Fish Hor Fun (220cal)

It's sweet and sour but doesn't taste like lemon honey.
Fish chunks weren't as tender as those in Hainanese Fish Rice Flavour.
Added sambal chilli and shallots.

Chicken Tang Hoon (vegetarian 178cal)

When I saw the word "tang hun", I was expecting the familiar soft noodles.
Xndo's tang hun was QQ and chewy.  The taste was not bad but they shouldn't call it tang hun perhaps?

Beef Stew with Mixed Vegetables (148 cal)

Beef stew with carrot and potato cubes with beef chunks.
I ate this with a couple of crackers to complete a meal.
The taste was quite bland, still acceptable as the beef were tender and the veg were soft.

Tom Yum Soup (150 cal)

Don't believe the picture on the package.
Ingredients only like this ~~
-_____-|||
I wasn't expecting a lot as the price was less than $5, I couldn't remembered how much I paid for.  While the soup base was good, the ingredients were just too miserable.  I put in Shirataki Noodles to complete the meal.  Will not buy this again >.<

The above meal replacements may not taste fantastic but are much better than those yucky meal replacement milk shakes.  At least I get to eat a normal meal in much lower cal, if I don't get to eat, I will feel very depress.

Local food are really the most sinful culprit for excessive weight gain.  I gotten a leaflet from Xndo counter which states the cal or some local meals, so just sharing here with my reader:

Approximate Calories per serving for-

Nasi Lemak:  494cal (210g)
Beef Hor Fun:  697cal (481g)
Satay Bee Hoon:  763cal (452g)
Claypot Rice:  899cal (597g)
Mee Siam:  694cal (655g)
Char Kway Teow:  744cal (384g)
Laksa:  591cal (540g)
Nasi Briyani:  877cal (488g)

So much for meal replacements for lunch/dinner, here's something for breakfast also.  I normal drink Milo ko-song in the morning, don't really take heavy breakfast cos' by the time I wake up, it's near lunch time.  I tried Xndo's Morning Goodness series cos' they were having promotion.

Mixed Mushroom Drink (122 cal)

I shaked it in warm water instead of stiring.

Heehee... I like it.  It's savoury in taste, very comforting for empty stomach in the morning.

Multi-Grain Drink (122 cal)

Taste a bit bland but I like it, it's almost like normal cereal.

That's the end of my review.

Top 10 questions asked the past 15 days.

Was doing nails non-stop for the pass 15 days before CNY eve.   The following were the TOP 10 QUESTIONS my customers asked:

1)  Where did you buy your curtains?

Almost every customer who stepped into my newly renovated nail studio would ask me this question.  The curtains gives the room a rose garden and cozy feel to the room, which received many compliments.  They are from Ikea.  Rose print curtains @$29.90/2 panels, needed to be tied onto the rod.  White lace @$14.90/2 panels with pocket for rod to go through.  For other rose theme furnitures click here.

2)  How long have you been working as a manicurist?
Gotten my Manicurist Certificate from FIL on Feb 2007.  Took a month or two to purchase basic nail products and I started from then ^^

3)  Why and how did you become a manicurist?
My sister was interested to open a  nail salon.  So the first step she made was to send me to a nail course while looking out for a shop.  After I completed the basic nail course, I thought of just buying the materials and start doing nail services from home first.  My initial motive was just to kill time and make use to what I had learnt.  Shop space hunting was in vain after about a year, and I continued with my little home based nail salon.  Not within my expectation, business grew and grew.  Thus I decided to take it seriously by going for upgrading courses as well as registered my business with ROC, and that's how Precious Nail Services was "born".

4)  How old are your children?
Darren is 15 this year and Luis is 12.  Normally, the response will be "Oh, your children so big already!"  Sometimes it's followed by the question below.

5)  You married at a very young age?
Nooooooo..........  I really don't know whether to laugh or cry over this.....  It seemed that my appearance had created lots of misunderstanding  -____-|||   My reputation must had suffered really badly........  Some of my customers thought I "messed up" my life and probably shot gun married in late teens or early 20s.

I DID NOT screw up my life.  I had planned my marriage, got a flat of our own before we had our first kid.  I gave birth to Darren at 27 and I'm 42 this year.

6)  How did you manage to slim down?
When this question is asked, I know that person is not my blog reader T_____T
Click my posts on weight management - How to eat without getting fat and How I managed to lose weight

7)  What programmes are you having for CNY?
CNY eve was reunion dinner at Pu Tien Restaurant, 1st day visit my father at Ang Mo Kio, 2nd day to my kid sister's place at Woodlands and perhaps a movie, 3rd day to a friend's place, that's it.

8)  What will you be doing for your own nails?
I did my nails on CNY eve when Precious Nail Services is close for hoilday.
Did clear extension with slight champagne glitters.
Personally, I don't like overly glittery stuffs on my nails.
For toes, I did black color gelish with slight silver glitter.

9)  Have you done your spring cleaning and shopping?
I don't spring clean before CNY.  Firstly, it's not possible due to my tight working schedule; secondly, I clean my house as and when, I don't accumulate till before CNY.  Since I don't cook, there practically nothing much to buy or to get busy with.  We went to Giant a day before CNY eve at 11.30pm it was crowded like crazy!  The queues at cashier was insane long, and we left with some canned drinks and bread for next day's breakfast at 2am lolxx....

10) Do you earn from blogging?
Yes,  I am with Nuffnang where I gets advertisements from.  The amount is nothing to scream about, but it's growing as months goes by.

Any more questions?  Just drop me a comment, at the same time, wishing all my lovely readers a Prosperous Chinese New Year!!

AFC Chef's Diet Risotto Meal Replacement

I bought a few products from Lifestream sometime back.  Yamamoto Konjac Sponges and a sponsored product Ultimate DHA70.

After taking Xndo Meal Replacements for sometime, I was bored and I found another alternative from Lifestream Group - AFC Chef's Diet Risotto, product from Japan.

The content was beautified at the package (of course).

5 packets of meals in different flavours in the box.

Lifestream had translated all necessary facts in English.
As you can see konjac is one of the ingredient.
So currently, I'm using konjac on my face and eating it as well lolxx....

I had tried all the 5 flavours, so here's my review ~

Added some greens cos' I need to chew something.

Some mushrooms inside.

No seafood inside, only a few pieces of carrot.

I created a table to illustrate the difference between the 2 brands, easier for everybody read.

I want AFC's taste to be in Xndo's meal and Xndo's meat/fish chunks in AFC's meal.  So yeah, it seems that I can't have the best from both brands, at the moment >.<  Whatever it is, these meal replacements are better than those yucky protein/milk shake replacements.  At least you still get to eat a proper meal with a bowl and spoon.  Replacing a meal with a drink can be demoralising.

You may like to click onto my previous review on Xndo Meal Replacements for comparison.

For those who are interested, AFC Chef's Diet Risotto can be purchase online - http://lifestreamgroup.com/  If you are to click in, you may realise that they have a new packaging and had change some flavours.

"Struggling" with weight and have questions, just drop me a comment.  I may not be an expert, but at least I am here to share and discuss :)
