Here’s A Shock for Ya!!!

Hi there peeps and hope you are all OK today.

Now I did say on Tuesday that I had a card to share and indeed I have.

And it comes with a bit of news.

I had a lovely email from Lou, asking me if I would like to go back to the Dies To Die For DT so I said a big YES PLEASE.
So poor Tracy has got me back lol.
And it is sooo good to be back as well : ))

So today is my first day doing the DTDF Cutey Crafts blog post and …..

… here’s my card.

I have to say that it felt quite strange colouring a non LOTV image, but nice all the same.

The image is Sweet Elin - Frog on Flower from DTDF and I coloured her with these Copics -

Skin – E000, E00, E11, E13., R00, R02
Hair – E31, E35, E39, E50

The rest – B0000, B00, B05, B97, C00, C4, C7, C10, G99, R05, R14, R17, R59, Y00, Y02, Y08, YG00, YG03, YG95

I also added a sprinkling of Glamour Dust on her wings and some White Opal Liquid Pearls  to her skirt and around the image.

The papers are Fancy Pants Down By The Shore – love the colours.

I made the flowers using a medium Woodware punch and did a couple or 3 rolled roses and a fringed scruffy flower.

And check me out with me inked edges and all that lol.

A lovely bow made from 25mm Black/Cream Rustic Gingham Berisford No 10 ribbon and topped with a red spotty button – both from The Ribbon Girl

And for a change – well it really is this time cos I’ve not used it for ages – I added a strip of paper lace made with the fabby Tilda Lace Die.

I chopped up a bit of  die cut Memory Box Lavish Branch and added that, just because I cannot leave well alone!!!

The sentiment is from my fave LOTV Sentiments to Fit Scroll set.

So there we are all done.

Thanks for stopping by today.
Have a good one, whatever you’re doing,  and huggiest of hugs to all xxx

A Krafty Old Bit of Paper Piecing :)

Hi there sweet peeps and hope you are all OK today.

It’s another cold one here today and it has been snowing earlier but nothing has really stuck.

Anyway, without further ado, let’s nip across the pond and join our friends over at the Simon Says Stamp challenge and this week our theme is

Paper Piecing

The DT are using products from Lily Bee this week -  you don't have to of course, but if you have them we would love to see them :)

As always, our lovely Heidi is giving away a fabulous …

… for one lucky winner to spend …

… right here :)

So ….

Picture 001 copy

.. here’s what I did.

I did the kraft card thing again – love love love kraft card – and kept it fairly simple.

The papers are from the Lily Bee Head Over Heels paper pad I used them to paper piece the flower from a Hero Arts Clear Stamps To and From Petals stamp set (the leaves are also from that set).

The centre circle was made using one of the stamps from the Hero Arts Clear Stamps Many Dots set

    Picture 004 copy

A sweet little rolled rose made with paper from the Lily Bee paper pack plus a bit of string that was handy :)

Picture 005 copy

There’s only one thing better than a bit of Tilda Lace and that’s three lots of it  - and all of it inked :))))

The sentiment is from a Hero Arts Clear Stamps Live and Laugh stamp set.

Picture 002 copy

Picture 003 copysi

I do quite like simple cards, even though they are sometimes a bit more tricky to make.

Right well that’s me off for today. Don't forget that there is my gorgeous giveaway which is open until next Tuesday – you can see it here if you haven't yet entered.

You gotta be innit to winnit!!!!

Just before I go (Colombo mode yet again lol),  I get quite a few emails asking about the way I do my pics so I thought it might be an idea if I do a little bit of a tutorial – keep watching and I’ll get onto it asap – hope that will help.

See you soon as soon sweet peeps and stay warm and safe.

Huggiest of hugs to all xxx

I Love Love LOVE Sir Tim – Well, His Inks At Any Rate :)

Picture 011 copy

Hi there sweet peeps and hope that you are all OK today.

It's a cold, wet, grey and gloomy day here in Chester - very depressing!!
I've been struggling to take decent photographs because the light here is practically non-existent, so much so that  I've had to have the house lights on all day, but never mind.

These things are sent to try us I guess - roll on spring , that's all I can say.

So it's that time of the week when we nip over and check out what's happening with the Papertake Weekly gang and this week our theme is

Happy New ….

So what you need to do is to create a card or project such a new house, new baby, new job etc etc or you can use something new from your stash if you want .

We are sponsored today by the sweetness that is Katarina over at Whiff of Joy, and of course there are some beautimous DT cards to feast your eyes on, so nip over and check it all out if you get a minute :)

Picture 006 copy

And this is what I did.
I used one of the new Tildas from the latest collection and I coloured her with Sir Tim's finest- oh I am so loving these inks peeps!!!

These are the colours that I used-

Skin - Tattered Rose & Vintage Photo
Cheeks - Worn Lipstick & Tea Dye
Hair – Antique Linen & Walnut Stain
Clothes - Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire, Barn Door & Fired Brick

I am starting to get the effect that I want  from these inks - still not perfect but I'm getting there and practice does make perfect after all.  And I am loving the practise!!!!

The papers are from the fabulous
Nitwits and are from the FQB Glad Tidings Collection - I love blue and red together. And they aren't just for Christmas either!!

Picture 009 copy

This gorgeous butterfly is from The Ribbon Girl and they come in packs of 5 for 80p!!
That’s bargainous as well as beautimous!!!

And there's loads of yummy new stuff on the website - must pay a little visit shortly lol!!!

Picture 010 copy

A simple little arrangement!!!

Picture 007 copy

Picture 008 copy

So that's the card done for today peeps.

Have you been watching Dancing on Ice?
I'm quite shocked that Pammy's gone so soon I thought she was very graceful and had potential, but what do I know? I have to say that I can't fathom out Ashley Roberts’ train of thought when she's giving her critique!!! It's quite inconsistent to say the least. And I do hope Jason starts to be a bit nicer, the sneering, supercilious swine - I don't like it when he's nasty just for the hell of it  because I'm sure they're all trying the best.

We’ll see!!

Poor Thea came home from nursery last night sporting a huge bite mark on her face. One of the other babies went into Hannibal Lecter mode and tried to bite her nose off – maybe they hadn’t  fed them lol!!!  Poor little thing - I do hope it doesn't put off going. I really don't like biting - I was very lucky that neither of mine were biters. I'm not sure how I would deal with it to be honest.

Anyway on that note I better go.

I will be back tomorrow but I'll leave you with a little sneaky peekie …..

Picture 001 copy copy

… and hopefully a better quality picture. Now all we need is some nice light!!

Have a fab evening and huggiest of hugs to all xxx

A Rather Fab Colour Combi & A Day Of Remembering :)

Picture 007 copy

Morning peeps and hope you are all OK today.

The man flu is still lurking but I think it is improving ever so slightly so hopefully by the weekend I will have some semblance of normality back (hahahaaaaaaaaa to the normality bit!!)

So it’s time to nip over and see what’s happening over at the Lili’s Little Fairies Challenge and this week it’s time for a game of

Embellishment Bingo

Here’s the grid and all you have to do is to pick a line :)

There are several combis I used here – not deliberately cos I aint that clever (although I did use everything on a grid once for one of The Ribbon Girl challenges, smug smug!!!). So take your pick from

Flowers, Gems Glitter

Glitter Buttons Ribbon

Pearls (the little stars)  Lace (paper) Glitter

And talking of  The Ribbon Girl, we are sponsored today by those lovely peeps Mary & Andrea  and there is a …

 kit_aqua

…. fab Aqua Mini Ribbon Kit up for grabs.

So ….

Picture 001 copy

… this is what I did. I used one of last year’s Lili Of The Valley Christmas releases and this is of course All In A Row .

I coloured it with Copics in these colours -

Skin – E0000, E000, E00, E11, E13, R00, R02

The rest – BV0000, BV000, BV00, BV02, BV04

The papers are from the Lili Of The Valley paper pads and this one is Promises which features papers from the Nitwits collection of the same name -  I really like these colours together :)

Picture 004 copy

Some Ribbon Girl yummies here -

A larger bow made with Sky Mauve Lilac Seam Binding, topped with a smaller double bow made with Wavecrest Seam Binding which was finally topped with a Medium Purple Polka Dot Button tied with some natural button twine.

And there’s a cheeky little tag peeking out which is from the LOTV Christmas Sentiment Tags Set 32

The dies I used are Spellbinders Lattice Motifs and of course a bit of Tilda Lace

Picture 006 copy

A little arrangement made with various fab stuff from Wild Orchid Crafts :)

Picture 002 copy

Picture 003 copy

So there we are all done for today.

If you get a sec, nip over and have a mooch at the challenge blog peeps and from next week there will be a few more faces joining the DT. Hugest congrats to them and I for one can’t wait to share their fabulous work :)

Before I go I just have to say that yesterday my heart went out to the families of the Hillsborough Disaster. For too long these poor people have not only had to come to terms with losing their relatives in the most awful way, but have had to fight every inch of the way for the truth. I guess that under the circumstances it wasn’t a lot to ask. Yesterday that fight brought them the official confirmation that they had been seeking all these years.  I’m sure that it didn't make them feel any better – in fact it probably made them feel worse in some cases, knowing that lives lost maybe could have been saved. But they must at last feel vindicated and it is a step forward for them and maybe now they can begin to find some peace and start to heal. If that’s possible.

I am LFC supporter – have been all my life – and so is Rich and my Emma. I used to go to  home games years ago, back in the days of Emlyn and Clemence and Tommy Smith etc. My ex husband was also a red and went to most games, home or away and even went abroad to watch them, although he wasn’t at  Hillsborough. So I guess that football is a way of life round here so this really hit home and  I remember it happening like it was yesterday.

I remember going into work on the Monday and of course it was the main topic of conversation, and finding out that one of my ex neighbours had died there. One of the girls who worked there used to go to the same pub as he did and she told me - I couldn’t believe it. I still see one of his sisters now cos she works in one of the shops near here.

I remember feeling outrage that you really should not go to a football match and not come home.

I remember the nightmares I had after reading a particularly harrowing and graphic book of accounts of what happened that day. I remember wishing I had never read it and then feeling guilty that I had just wanted to bury my head and wipe away the images I had from my mind because the people that were there would never be able to do that. I cannot even tell you peeps what I read because it is too awful. Suffice to say that those that were caught up in those pens must have thought they had gone to the very depths of hell.

I remember the shocking pictures on the front pages of the Sunday papers the next day and going out of my way to make sure that my kids didn't see them.

I remember meeting up with the sister of the best friend of my neighbour who had died. Her brother had also gone to the match but he came home.  He came home without his best friend but brought back a world of pain and problems and guilt.  He was traumatised beyond belief she told me and his nightmares may even continue to this day and will be far worse than anything I could ever imagine.

I remember one of my works colleagues telling me that her husband had been there on that day. He was in the top tier and got the most awful view of what was happening below him. He was one of those helping to pull people upwards. He has never gone to a match since.

I’m not meaning to get on me soap box here cos I know that we lived in a very different world then, even though it wasn't that long ago, and football supporters hadn’t always been paragons of virtue – sorry if this offends anyone but it is the reality of those times.  And I have always told my kids that they have to have a fair and balanced view of life and that there are usually two sides to every story.  Some (not all) supporters had a really bad reputation back then for rioting and pitch invasions and fighting and I have tried to rationalise in my head that those in charge on that day may have got the wrong end of the stick and as a result made the wrong decisions.  Making wrong decisions is part of our lives – we have all done it because we are human beings and we aren’t perfect. I can forgive that.  But what I cannot forgive is the systematic cover up and all the lies that have been told since. Things that are coming out now about the lengths that certain parties went to to deflect blame and cover up the truth are beyond belief and those responsible must be brought to book. What they did is nothing short of evil.

It’s hard to live in these parts and not know somebody who died or was affected by this, even down to the next generation because my kids both went to school with the brothers of two of the victims.  There are lots of people around here  inter-connected to this tragedy in some way or another and a lot of people have been affected. And we live some 20 odd miles from Liverpool so in the city this will be even greater.

But none are affected quite so much as the immediate families. The rest of us remember Hillsborough when things like yesterday happen and then we all start talking about it again. But for those families it never goes away and they remember it all the times. For them it isn't just a topic on the news cos it is their reality.

So today I am remembering the 96 and their families.

I am also remembering the other victims of that day that we don’t always think about. People like the young St Johns Ambulance volunteers that were there on that day, some little more than kids,  who thought they were there to patch up cuts and bruises. And the hospital staff who tried to deal with this but who must have been completely overwhelmed. And the Hillsborough ground staff – God only knows what they had to cope with. And the family and friends of those fans who went but came home – they have probably been coping with the fall out ever since. And the fans on the pitch that were desperately trying to save their mates and fellow fans.

And on and on it goes.

But hopefully now they can start to have some sort of closure.

And while I’m remembering, my thoughts are also with my friends across the water on the anniversary this week of 9/11. And finally I am remembering my lovely Mum because it is 9 years tomorrow since she died (love and miss you loads Mum xxx).

Huggiest of hugs to all xxx

It’s nowt serious, just a dose of man flu really, but it’s made me feel quite yukky and my poor throat feels like I’ve been gargling with broken glass – ouch!!! So it’s going to be a short post today then I’m off back to me bed again :(

But for the minute,  enough of my tales of woe cos it’s time to nip over and catch up with Papertake Weekly and this week it’s all about

I Quite Like This One!!!!

Hi there peeps and hope you are all OK today. Please excuse the very drab and uninspiring post title but I could not for the life of me think what to call this today!! Suffice to say that I made a card that I quite liked – that’s it really (sad isn't it!!)

It’s that time of the week when we nip over to the jolly old US of A and catch up with our friends over at the Simon Says Stamp Challenge

Before I get to the old cardio, just a quickie to let you know that we are running our annual  Children's Holiday Challenge  ….

…. and we already have some truly wonderful masterpieces,  so if you  know any crafty little bods ages 2-16 years old, why not get them to enter (Kyla you are NOT using my Copics!!)  It’s an Anything Goes theme so they can really get creative, and we would love to see what the little sausages do. PLUS there are 2 fabulous prizes up for grabs :). If you click the pic above it will take you to the right place on the website or you can read all about it here.

Right onto our challenge this week which is

KRISTINA'S INSPIRATION

This is a photo which has been done by Simon Says Stamp's very own Kristina Werner.
Kristina is super inspiring, sweet as can be and uber talented and she is the one who gets to choose what goes into the
Monthly Card Kits that Simon Says sell, plus she designed some stamp sets that can be purchased through the card kit and also in the store separately. But if that wasn't enough she is the designer of the exclusive dies that we featured last week. So all in all, she is one very talented girlie indeed :)

And this ….

… is the inspiration photo we have all used this week - it’s of her gorgeous kitty cat, Mannie, aww:).

The DT have all featured Basic Grey products but of course you don't have to use them to join in. But we would love to see them used if you have any.

As always, our lovely Heidi is giving away a fabulous …

… for one lucky winner to spend …

…right here.

So …..

Picture 001 copy

.. this is what I did.

I used one of the new Turning Leaves Magnolia stamps – this is Tilda With Daisy & Mushrooms and I’ll do the close up and colours I used in the next pic.

The papers are all from the Basic Grey Little Black Dress  6 x 6 Paper Pack

Picture 005 copy

I’ve really fallen in love with colouring again after Claudia's class and these are the Copics I’ve used  -

Skin – E0000, E000, E00, E11, E21, R00, R02

Hair – E15, E31, E33, E34, E35, E37, E50

The rest – C00, C1, G99, E43, E50, E81, R02, R05, R17, R29, R59, W00, W1, W3, W5, W7

Picture 004 copy

Oops of the little gems has slipped here :(

Slap dash Phillips strikes again!!!

The little blooms are cut with the 3 smallest dies from the Spellbinders Rose Creations set. I found some tiny red sequins in my stash and popped them in the centre before I (badly) adding the gems.

Picture 002 copy

2 of my old faves have put in an appearance as well – the good old Tilda Lace Die and Magnolia leaf and swirl die (minus the leaf bit – poor thing always gets left out!!)

Picture 003 copy

So that’s the old card done and if you get a sec, do nip and check out the challenge peeps and also the amazing cardage for the DT. Till next time have a fab day and huggiest of hugs to all

And finally, well done to our two girlies this morning - our first gold and all that is left to say is ….

… come On Bradley Wiggins – you can do it !!!!!!!

The papers here are of course from Nitwits and these are from the FQB Noah’s Ark collection (and just while I’m thinking about it, the papers I used on the last card were from the FQB Promises and Tulips Too collections)

Picture 005 copy

And here’s another fab little sentiment to go with the fab little image :)

The ribbon is again from the Lavender Mini Kit from The Ribbon Girl.

Other stuff I used here is my old faithful Tilda Lace Die and Magnolia leaf and swirl die – both are from Simon Says Stamp.

Picture 002 copy

Picture 00312 copy

I am on a bit of a dash now because the 2nd half of the footie has started. I have a feeling that it going to go to penalties - my nerves will not stand it if that happens. So I’ll say toodle pip and here’s hoping that there is good news at the end of the match and we are through to the semis.

I will be back tomoz because I have a bit of catching up to do so I’ll see you then. Enjoy your evening and huggiest of hugs to all xxx

Come on England!!!!!!!
