Hobby Round up Week 42

Welcome to another week of updates, and it appears we've actually been doing some hobby this week

After some Nurgle last week, Elliot has returned to his Blood Angels, with a squad of jump packed Death Company.

Neil is continuing to add figures to his 'Of Gods and Mortals' warband with this finished Valkyrie

Big Papa has been busy moving back to Bristol, but has still had time do some more work on his 15mm Guildball project, here we have Jac and Shank

Chris has added another figure to his Slaaneshi Daemons, with this completed Hellflayer. There is a second one on its way with just two of the crew to finish.

Hobby Round up Week 41

Its all a bit quiet in the hobby front, but here are some pictures to keep you excited.

Elliot has finally finished his Nurgle Blight Knights, with a lovely splattering of blood on the snow. Shame their on the wrong shape bases ;)

Neil has painted Surtr the legendary Fire Giant, he will be used in his Norse for 'Of Gods and Mortals'

And finally some work in progress, Chris has been working on two Hellflayers for his Slaanesh Age of Sigmar army, with the chariots and Seekers done, and the multitude of Daemonnettes on their way.

Keeper of Secrets

As the saying goes, 'Paint daemons while the sun shines'

So here is the last unpainted Daemon I have, a Keeper of Secrets.

Fiends of Slaanesh

Being between jobs means I have more time to paint than ever, and so here are some more finished models, this time some Fiends of Slaanesh.

These have been converted from Seekers of Slaanesh; the saddles removed, Daemonnette claws added and then a liberal sprinkling of Green Stuff fur.

Next on the paint station is a Keeper of Secrets.

Daemonnettes Done

Another bath of models done and dusted, this time 22 Daemonnettes including 2 heralds, converted from the old 'Dechla the Denied' model.

I've had these for a while, and painting them was not what you would call enjoyable, but they had to be done.
It breaks the back of the remaining Slaaneshi models I have, with just 6 Fiends and a Greater Daemon left to do later in the year

Next on the paint station will be some Irish for Dux Bellorum; they aren't even built yet, but check back next week for part 2 of my project update

Brutey and the Beast

Its finally done, I've finished my Helbrute, thus concluding all the painting from the 40k starter box.

Turns out it is a lot purpler that the rest of my Slaanesh, but for once I'm not going to get al OCD about it, unless it really gets on my wick in the future.

Next on my paint station; more WW2 BA Germans

Chaos Cultist Clone Wars

2012 is almost over, and to round off a good year of painting for me, here are some Chaos Cultists for my 40k Chaos Marine Army

Having bought two of the Dark Vengeance Limited Edition 40k starter sets (selling all the Dark Angels to cover the cost of the boxes), I have enough to field two decent sized units units.

One with Autoguns.

And the other with Auto Pistols and Close Combat weapons.

Up next is a converted Helbrute.

Hope to get these guys on the board for some 2013 40k action very soon.

Boots, Motocycle, Yadda, Yadda

Another unit done, behind schedule again but at least they're finished.

5 Terminators, with Reaper Autocannon, Combi-Melta, Icon Bearer and Champion with Chainfist. Next stop is their personal transport, a LandRaider

I choo choo choose you

Chaos Marine Chosen are done, 16 days behind schedule, now onto the Terminators, hopefully done by the end of the month (although im sure they will run into November)

After them just a Landraider and a Keeper of Secrets to do and thats 3700pts painted.

Rather than a picture of just my completed unit I thought Id show my paint station instead.

Almost there

A few days behind schedule I have finished Augusts quota. This time it was 2 rhinos and my 2nd Defiler.

Below is a picture of my Slaaneshi force so far, with just a squad of Chosen to do to finish all the models I have built for my Chaos. Just leaves 5 Terminators, a Landraider and a Keeper of Secrets hidden away in their boxes for the near future.

After this month its back to Lizards and Vampires, to finish off them before 2010 comes to an end.

Its been a while....

Its taken a while ( about 5 or 6 weeks ) but the Chaos Bikes are finally done ( I know the pictures a little dark). Oh and I did a Chaos Lord too just for fun.

Not a great deal left to do to 'finish' my Emperors Children, well I say that just after acquiring some Terminators and a Land Raider....

The pleasure's all mine

With Zed revealing his campaign 1500pts, I thought Id follow with my Slaaneshi force.

HQ - Daemon Prince

T - 10 Noise Marines, champion, power weapon, Icon, Rhino
T - 10 Noise Marines, champion, power weapon, Icon, Rhino

HS - Defiler, 2 extra close combat arms
HS - 2 Obliterators

D - 17 lesser daemons

The only model I don't currently own is the Greater Daemon so Zed's Bloodthirster will be standing in until I get around to buying one

Girls, Girls Girls

Just in the nick of time, another month another deadline hit

This time 10 Daemonettes to add to my Chaos Marine force, would have loved to get all 20 done but time was not on my side

Next month I am going to finish my painting competition entry, paint Luggage from the Discworld series and maybe do a Rhino for my Possessed.

6 of the best

Having been writing the next 40k campaign (well series of story based battles) I've been looking back at what I've got painted and what's left to do.
My 3.5k of Guard are done, my 5k of Necrons have been done for some time, so there's really only my Chaos Marines that are lagging behind.
Looking at what I've already got painted and what I need to do to get to a playable amount of points (1500/1750) I was quite surprised how close I was and set about seeing what I'd need to paint to get to these figures.

At the moment I have my Daemon Prince, 2 squads of Noise Marines in Rhinos and 10 possessed painted, If I add 2 lots of 10 Lesser Daemons and a Daemonically possessed Rhino I'll hit 1500pts bang on.
Works out at 54 models on the board too, a nice Slaaneshi number (9x6 for those struggling)

To go to 1750 I found that I could do it a number of ways and each of them involved adding 6 more models for an extra Slaaneshi 60 models on the board! Either, 6 Bikes, 6 Raptors or 6 Chosen in a Rhino.

So once Marneus Calgar is done, the last of my Lizardmen and those pesky Vampires are out of the way, I'll be moving on to firstly getting to a playable 1500points and then painting the units to get me to 1750.

Let the painting commence and Death to the false Emperor (unless I'm playing Gaurd)

Tale of 1 (chaotic) Gamer

I said I wouldnt start a new army this year but I lied.

With the new Lord of the Rings movement trays, my obsession with the Daemon armies has been reignited.

First I thought Id go mad and make a 2000pt army, but looking at both WFB and 40K Daemon books I cant come up with a list im happy with so I have a new plan.

So begins 'The Tale of 1 Gamer'

Coming soon will be the 1st step on an ongoing project, I plan to do 1000pts of each Chaos power for both games starting with Slaanesh.

Not only will this give me eventually the ability to field a 4000 point Daemon army for each game but also help on the road to finishing my Chaos Marine army.

Army Lists

Warhammer:

Herald of Slaanesh on daemonic mount
Herald of Slaanesh on foot
15 Daemonnettes, full command
15 Daemonnettes, full command
3 Fiends of Slaanesh

Warhammer 40,000:

Herald of Slaanesh on daemonic mount
Herald of Slaanesh on foot
15 Daemonnettes
15 Daemonnettes
15 Daemonnettes
3 Fiends of Slaanesh

I'll get round to doing their own personal Rhino soon enough.

The Chosen One

With the 'Tale of some gamers' starting this week, i thought it best to paint something that has nothing to do with it what so ever!

Here is the test piece for the Chosen Marines for my Slaaneshi Chaos Marine force.

To make them look different to to the Noise Marines i have reversed the colour scheme, this one in particular has an Icon of Slaanesh.

Right now to finish off the Possessed Marines....
