Ice Boats

Cheyanne and I had a lot of fun making and playing with these boats. I think the ice cube boats are cute but they melted really, really fast. I would recommend making the bigger boats.

We used: Water, food coloring, plastic wrap, aluminum foil and tooth picks for the ice cube boats.

For the larger and better boat we used: Bottom of a 2 quart carton (such as O.J.), water, food coloring, aluminum foil, cookie sticks or Popsicle sticks.

Poor water in container, add food coloring and stir.

Cover container with aluminum foil and poke stick or Popsicle stick through the foil.

Freeze until solid.



Pull out of container and add sail made from aluminium foil cut into triangles wrapped around the stick.


Now have fun.

I love this idea. We make "icebergs". I fill a small container with water and put a few little toys in it and freeze it. My kids love to take them in the bathtub and wait for the toys to surface!

Awesome! We are learning about liquids, gases, and solids and will be exploring water and ice. This will be a fun activity to do along with our study! Thanks a bunch!

I derived this craft from a project that Cheyanne's pre school class did. I thought it was a perfect Easter craft to share. We used: an Egg carton cup, playdough (or clay), 6 craft sticks, scissors, brown and gold paint, brushes, Easter grass (or craft moss) and glue. This can be done in so many different ways, so just use what you have around the house. Cheyanne painted 4 craft sticks brown and 2 gold. The 4 brown craft sticks, I cut with scissors so they would make smaller crosses. Round off the edges a bit. Glue the sticks together making crosses. Fill the egg cup with playdough and glue on the grass. Poke the crosses into the dough. I also cut out an egg shape from construction paper and glued the egg cup on it.

Halloween Hanging Decorations

Oh, how I love making Halloween decorations. This is my first Halloween decoration of the year. They are easy to make and look great hanging in the windows or over the table. To make them make 2 fans from construction paper and staple them together. Then decorate with construction paper, scissors, glue and tape.

Cricket Craft

Here is another repost, we are doing bugs at preschool, so this fits right into what we are doing. I found this cute craft on the Better Homes and Garden website. My kids saw it and could not wait to make it (because it is a bug). I made some modifications to it to make it a little easier for younger kids. Do not be scared of the paint because you do not have to use it. I know paint can be messy. You will need toilet paper roll, scissors, glue, pom-poms, paint or markers or green construction paper for the body (to make the toilet paper roll green), wiggly eyes, chenille stems, green foam sheet or construction paper and a pencil. Have the kids paint the toilet paper roll green. OR you can have them color it with a marker OR just wrap it in green construction paper and glue it. While the paint is drying, I get all the pieces set up to glue on. I used foam sheets to cut out legs but construction paper will work too. For the nose, I cut a triangle out of craft ...
