In 2001 Tesserete municipality was merged with the other, neighboring municipalities Cagiallo, Lopagno, Roveredo, Sala Capriasca and Vaglio to form a new and larger municipality Capriasca. The village is famous in Ticino for its Carnival "Or Penagin". (en)
