Quasar

Quasar is the word used to describe any class of celestial objects that resemble stars, but with its large redshift, and observational brightness has led the scientific community to come to the consensus that these objects are at an extreme distance, and have extreme energy output. Because they resemble stars they were thus named ‘quasi-stellar-object’, ‘quasar’ for short.[1] The first quasar was discovered in 1963, by Maarten Schmidt.[2]
