shaken ballerinas

another swap challenge
this time it had to be a shaker card and for a kids birthday

i used framelits labels to make the frame
and the ballerina is from talented trio
i also added some white sequins to the outside to add some sparkle.

if you hold the card and shake it then all these beautiful sequins and stars come out all over the ballerina
here is the same card minus the shaker card part and some bling.

creative blog hop

this week it is my turn for the creative blog hop!!
woohoo!
thanks christine!

this week i have been working on a card swap that i do every month with a group of friends including the clever miss sally
our challenge for this month was herringbone and male birthday
can i just say that herringbone was not that easy and i found it hard to create something that was 'me'

here is what i came up with...still not entirely happy but there comes a point when you just have to let go and leave it hey?!
a gate fold card with a herringbone design on the background using some black and white paper scraps.
in front is a rather spiffing gentleman using the age circle punch and word window for the hat, 1' and 3/4" circle punches for the monocle (punch the 3/4"first and then the 1" around the hole), and heart punch for his moustache
inside i have used my rotary stamp for the sentiment
here's a view of the herringbone pattern using scraps of dsp.
to make it i cut 1cm strips of dsp out. i stuck wide dst to the card and then slowly stuck down the strips
when i finished making those i had another go at another herringbone card because i was not enjoying the process. this time i tried it on a circle just for kicks lol as you do.
not entirely happy with this one either but wanted a crack at something different using the technique.
here you can see all the different layers on the card.....and how wonky my sticking things on straight is lmao

now for the questions....
What are you working on now?
i  am currently designing some adult punch art classes utilising the owl punch in unusual ways. i also have another blog hop coming using stuff from the latest stampin up occasions catalogue so am waiting rather impatiently for my postie to arrive so i can play. later on this month i am at a stamp camp with my new zealand stampin up family so have to make up some card swaps for that
How does your work differ from others in your genre?.
i think my stuff is probably a bit weirder and quirkier than most stampin up demos. i am a self-confessed geek and LOVE punch art so a lot of my stuff reflects that. now and again i'll do a 2 stamp flower card just to freak everyone out and then go back to my punch art quirky stuff
Why do you create what you do?
i have 4 kids...i need some creative outlet!!! otherwise i think i would go mental. i have always created stuff from the early days of making models with plastercine, mosaics, painting, to my visual arts/education degree at uni to being a stampin up demo.
How does your creative process work?
often i will see something and want to make it in punch art. i am inspired by those around me too and am an avid pinner of ideas of interest. i will also get asked/dared to make something...south park characters, pop-up penises, minecraft creepers to name a few. i am also inspired by my kids-my eldest in particular. when i get a new punch she is always in there cutting and jiggling it around and giving me ideas of what to make with it because...shock horror...we actually use it for its intended purpose lmao

hope that was interesting
stay tuned for the next blogs in line

punch art easter cards

it will soon be the occasion to eat chocolate, contemplate a man's death and holiday
easter, of course!!!

here's a card i have made for a swap i do with the card girlies over at essential baby
feel free to join us any time
we had to make 4 cards following a sketch
although mine was a loose interpretation of it i must say lol
and use any of the following-string, ribbon, wool or fur.
i also had ago at watercolouring as i generally suck at it but i am quite happy with my bunnies this time.
grass was done using the fringe scissors
flowers and trees were made using the scallop circle punches and the trio flower punch with some sequins

hope my swap buddies like

knock knock

who's there?
kanga
kanga who?
kangaroo!

lol

another month and another card swap.
essential baby again.
this time i needed it to be a thank you card and we had to use the black magic technique. i changed mine a bit and instead of using pencils i used my chalks to get the image i wanted.

i opted to use my all aboriginal stamp set as i hadn't used it for a while and i wanted to use a more unusual set for this theme.
i also followed a sketch by someone somewhere whom i can't remember lol-will pop a link in when i find it (or if someone reminds me).
i used a tim holtz embossing folder through my big shot and rubbed some cajun craze over the card.
the kangaroo is done by stamping with white craft ink, heat embossing it to dry and then going over it with coloured chalks aka the black magic technique.
i added a safety pin with ribbon and twine and sentiment to the corner

i have also decorated the inside to make it look prettier lol

here are all 6 of them ready and waiting to be posted to the lovely sally my stamping buddy at essential baby.
please feel free to come on over and join in our little swap-everyone is welcome :>

knock knock

 Whos there?
Baby Owl.
Baby Owl who?
Baby Owl see you later, baby not.

lol

my kids are loving knock knock jokes at the moment
and this is one of their collection....
so it only seemed fitting to make a baby owl card for my

i used ye big shot to emboss the flowers on which i then sponged over with choc chip and some cajun craze.
the owl was made using the stampin up owl punch as per usual (white, orange, brown card) but i cut up a white body to make the nappy and a brown waistcoat for the wings and let us not forget the googley eyes heheheheheehe

i also decorated the inside using the leftover embossed card

here they all are ready to go!

feel free to come and join us at essential baby for our monthly card swaps-we would love to see you there!

elements of style take two!

i am loving this new stamp set!

elements of style is $49.95 wood mount or $39.95 clear mount here in australia
and is a very versatile stamp set.

here i made a card for my su friend kari who had her birthday the other day.
i have clear embossed the squiggle stamp and then daubered over the top
which looks way cool don't you think?
i have added the lovely jubbly black striped ribbon to it with a gi-normous bow!

here are some card swaps i made for my fellow inklings.
i was inspired my michelle zindorf
-the way she wields her brayer is quite magical!
each month or so we swap cards and atc's to gain expertise in all sorts of tricks and ideas

being part of a team and sharing ideas is one of the many reasons i love being a SU demo
if you would like to be part of my team please contact me today for more information

cards swaps are cool

a great way to get inspiration is to participate in a card swap nothing like making a card for a purpose and then swapping them and then getting more that are similar to get the old mojo going. each month i participate in a card swap with some mummy friends of mine over at essential baby each month sally gives us a challenge to do this month was quite tricky and i have to say i failed epically at it lol but i do have 6 cards to swap that are easel cards why i didnot follow therules i don't know i think i got an idea in my head and just went with it...silly moo that i am!
anyways here is my take on the masculine card i went hunting on the www for retro clip art (decided to do something a little different than stamping) and found this little gem teamed with some awfully plaid paper and retro man card here we come ...i think.... it does need more embellishments maybe a jumbo brad or something but my deadline had come so maybe next time i'll have more of a play
my second swap is also an easel card this time i used the bird punch from stampin up it is such a great punch check out what valita does with it hope my swapees like what they are getting! cheers ears!

girlie robots

i bet you never thought the lots of bots stamp set
from the new autmun/winter catalogue was girlie now did you? well i did :> i really like the thought of mixing things up and making masculine sets girlie and girlie sets masculine so for the tomboy in us all here are some lots of fem-bots hahahahaha minus the shooting boobies . these were done for the may card swap at essential baby we had a sketch to follow and we were supposed to do kissing with a twist (ssssshhhh but i didin't sssshhhhh) just used a selection papers and embossed some matching card with a cuttlebug folder i also used my much neglected circle of friendship set which is really quite handy i've decided i coloured in the robots using a water colour brush and the colours from the lids of my ink pads (seeing i don't have all the markers as yet) here are the whole set of which i will be posting out as soon as our mighty leader tells us to lol if you are an eb card swap lady please say hi as you have a sneak preview!!! okies cheers ears

black and white

some more ideas for my essential baby card swap this month was black and white and i fiddled around for a while with ideas I am still not happy but hopefully will have made up my mind when the time comes to post them out these are made from the funky forest wheel with white embossing and added a scallop edge to the black card.. I have done the texture at the back with my cuttlebug (yes I still have it but I really really REALLY want a big shot) there is also some white ribbon with a black button just to bring it all together and it makes it look quite girly here is the inside...oops round on its side but you get the idea I had extras left over so i pondered what else i had that was white ...hmmm.. .oh that's right! ta da! white staz-on... with acetate... wohoo so i picked a nice simple stamp set-hello again and used that. these are cheating for the swap as thye use a third colour so they wont be going out i'll use them for something else... i am sure i will find a use for them okies that's all for now cheers ears
