  12. CEPII, WP No 2010 31 Wholesalers in International Trade APPENDIX Profit sharing between the producer and the wholesaler We assume that the wholesaler captures a share 1 - of export profits. The easiest way of justifying this assumption is to suppose that Nash bargaining takes place between the wholesaler and the producer. First, if the wholesaler is a monopolist (for a given destination and product), the surplus of any agreement between bargainers equals the profit, since there is no alternative for the producer from exporting its products. If the bargaining power of the producer is , then the previous division of profits prevails.
