  1. 6 The literature on wage indexation (Gray, 1976; Fischer, 1977; Karni, 1983), especially in open economies (Turnovsky, 1983; Aizenmann and Frenkel, 1985a, b) under optimal wage indexing (Devereux, 1988; Vilmunen, 1992) provides a very useful theoretical background in this context. / These non-modelled factors include (institutional etc.) parameters related to wage bargaining as well as various restrictions, such as minimum wage laws, on wage formation. Also, shocks to real interest rates could affect the stochastic behaviour of shocks to wage formation.
