A CERN-SLAC-KEK collaboration on high gradient X-band structure research has been established in order to demonstrate the feasibility of the CLIC baseline design for the main linac stably operating at more than 100 MV/m loaded accelerating gradient. Several prototype CLIC structures were successfully fabricated and high power tested [...]

A CLIC prototype structure, T24_THU_#1, was recently high-gradient tested at KEK X-band test stand, Nextef. The copper parts of this 24-cell TW structure were delivered from CERN, were bonded and brazed, bench-tested and tuned in Tsinghua University. [...]

High Gradient Performance of NLC/GLC X-Band Accelerating Structures
/ Döbert, Steffen ; Adolphsen, Chris ; Boffo, Cristian ; Bowden, Gordon B ; Burke, David ; Carter, Harry ; Chan, Jose ; Dolgashev, Valery A ; Frisch, Josef ; Funahashi, Y et al.
During the past five years, there has been an concerted effort at FNAL, KEK and SLAC to develop accelerator structures that meet the high gradient performance requirements for the Next Linear Collider (NLC) and Global Linear Collider (GLC) initiatives. The structure that resulted is a 60-cm-long, traveling-wave design with low group velocity (< 4% c) and a 150 degree phase advance per cell. [...]

Development of C-band Accelerating Section for SuperKEKB
/ Kamitani, T ; Delerue, N ; Ikeda, M ; Kakihara, K ; Ohsawa, S ; Oogoe, T ; Sugimura, T ; Takatomi, T ; Yamaguchi, S ; Yokoyama, K
For the luminosity upgrade of the present KEK B-factory to SuperKEKB, the injector linac has to increase the positron acceleration energy from 3.5 to 8.0 GeV. In order to double the acceleration field gradient from 21 to 42 MV/m, design studies on C-band accelerator module has started in 2002. [...]

First high power tests of clic prototype accelerating structures with hom waveguide damping

Prototype accelerating structures for the Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) are being developed and high-power tested in collaboration between SLAC, KEK and CERN. Several undamped, low group-velocity and strongly tapered prototypes (of the so-called T18 design) have been operated above 100 MV/m average gradients at a very low breakdown rates. [...]

Results from the CLIC X-BAND structure test program at the NLCTA

As part of a SLAC-CERN-KEK collaboration on high gradient X-band structure research, several prototype structures for the CLIC linear collider study have been tested using two of the high power (300 MW) X-band rf stations in the NLCTA facility at SLAC. These structures differ in terms of their manufacturing (brazed disks and clamped quadrants), gradient profile (amount by which the gradient increases along the structure which optimizes efficiency and maximizes sustainable gradient) and HOM damping (use of slots or waveguides to rapidly dissipate dipole mode energy).
