Recent Developments with the New Tools for Collimation Simulations in Xsuite / Van der Veken, Frederik (CERN) ; Abramov, Andrey (CERN) ; Broggi, Giacomo (CERN ; Rome U., La Sapienza, Dip. di Astron.) ; Cerutti, Francesco (CERN) ; D'Andrea, Marco (CERN) ; Demetriadou, Despina (CERN) ; Esposito, Luigi Salvatore (CERN) ; Hugo, Gabrielle (CERN) ; Iadarola, Giovanni (CERN) ; Lindström, Bjorn (CERN) et al.
Simulations of single-particle tracking involving collimation systems need dedicated tools to perform the different tasks needed. These include the accurate description of particle-matter interactions when a tracked particle impacts a collimator jaw; a detailed aperture model to identify the longitudinal location of losses; and others. Development of Collimation Simulations for the FCC-ee / Abramov, Andrey (CERN) ; Bruce, Roderik (CERN) ; Carlier, Felix (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Hofer, Michael (CERN) ; Iadarola, Giovanni (CERN) ; Nevay, Laurence (JAI, UK) ; Pieloni, Tatiana (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Rakic, Milica (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Redaelli, Stefano (CERN) ; White, Simon (ESRF, Grenoble)
A collimation system is under study for the FCC-ee to protect the machine from the multi-MJ electron and positron beams and limit the backgrounds to the detectors. One of the key aspects of the collimation system design is the setup of simulation studies combining particle tracking and scattering in the collimators. [...]

Collimation simulations for the FCC-ee / Abramov, A (CERN) ; Broggi, G (CERN) ; Bruce, R (CERN) ; Carlier, F (CERN) ; Hofer, M (CERN) ; Iadarola, G (CERN) ; Nevay, L J (CERN) ; Pieloni, T (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Rakic, M (CERN) ; Redaelli, S (CERN) et al.
The collimation system of the Future Circular Collider, operating with leptons (FCC-ee), must protect not only theexperiments against backgrounds, but also the machine itself frombeam losses. With a 17.8 MJ stored energy of the electron andpositron beams, they are highly destructive, and beam losses risk tocause damage or a quench of superconducting elements. [...]

LHC Collimation and Energy Deposition Studies Using Beam Delivery Simulation (BDSIM) / Nevay, Laurence (Oxford U., JAI) ; Boogert, Stewart (Oxford U., JAI) ; Bruce, Roderik (CERN) ; Garcia, Hector (Oxford U., JAI) ; Gibson, Stephen (Oxford U., JAI) ; Kwee-Hinzmann, Regina (Oxford U., JAI) ; Redaelli, Stefano (CERN)
Beam Delivery Simulation (BDSIM) is a program that uses a suite of high energy physics software including Geant4, CLHEP & ROOT, that seamlessly tracks particles through accelerators and detectors utilising the full range of particles and physics processes from Geant4. A comparison of the collimator cleaning efficiency and energy deposition throughout the full length of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) with the established SixTrack simulations of the CERN collimation group is presented. Progress & developments of BDSIM / Shields, William (Royal Holloway, U. of London) ; Nevay, Laurence (CERN) ; Boogert, Stewart (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.)
Beam Delivery Simulation (BDSIM), is a C++ program that seamlessly models particle beam transport within an accelerator model that can encompass the beam line, the accelerator's environment, and any accompanying detectors. Based on a suite of high-energy physics software including Geant4, CLHEP, and ROOT, BDSIM transforms the optical design of an accelerator into a detailed 3D model. [...]

Hollow Electron Lenses (HELs) are crucial components of the CERN LHC High Luminosity Upgrade (HL-LHC), serving the purpose of actively controlling the population of the transverse beam halo to reduce particle losses on the collimation system. Symplectic particle tracking simulations are required to optimize the efficiency and study potentially undesired beam dynamics effects with the HELs. [...]
