A neural network z-vertex trigger for Belle II / Neuhaus, Sara ; Skambraks, Sebastian ; Abudinén, Fernando ; Chen, Yang ; Feindt, Michael ; Frühwirth, Rudolf ; Heck, Martin ; Kiesling, Christian ; Knoll, Alois ; Paul, Stephan et al.
We present the concept of a track trigger for the Belle II experiment, based on a neural network approach, that is able to reconstruct the z (longitudinal) position of the event vertex within the latency of the first level trigger. The trigger will thus be able to suppress a large fraction of the dominating background from events outside of the interaction region. [...]

Neural Network-Based Primary Vertex Reconstruction with FPGAs for the Upgrade of the CMS Level-1 Trigger System / Brown, Christopher Edward (Imperial Coll., London) ; Bundock, Aaron (Bristol U.) ; Komm, Matthias (DESY) ; Loncar, Vladimir (CERN) ; Pierini, Maurizio (CERN) ; Radburn-smith, Benjamin Charles (Imperial Coll., London) ; Shtipliyski, Antoni (Imperial Coll., London) ; Summers, Sioni Paris (CERN) ; Dancu, Julia-suzana (Imperial Coll., London) ; Tapper, Alexander (Imperial Coll., London) /CMS Collaboration
The CMS experiment will be upgraded to maintain physics sensitivity and exploit the higher luminosity of the High Luminosity LHC. Part of this upgrade will see the first level (Level-1) trigger use charged particle tracks within the full outer silicon tracker volume as an input for the first time and new algorithms are being designed to make use of these tracks.
