New laser polarization line at the ISOLDE facility / Kowalska, M (CERN) ; Aschenbrenner, P (CERN) ; Baranowski, M (Mickiewicz U., Poznan) ; Bissell, M L (Manchester U.) ; Gins, W (Leuven U.) ; Harding, R D (York U., England) ; Heylen, H (Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst.) ; Neyens, G (Leuven U.) ; Pallada, S (CERN ; Bohr Inst. ; Democritus U., Thrace) ; Severijns, N (Leuven U.) et al.
Following a growing interest in spin-polarized beams of radioactive ions, a new laser spin-polarization setup has been installed at the ISOLDE facility at CERN. The setup is located at the VITO beamline which aims to bring together several experimental techniques using polarized ions allowing for studies in nuclear physics, fundamental interactions, material and life sciences. We determine for the first time the magnetic dipole moment of a short-lived nucleus with part-per-million (ppm) accuracy. To achieve this two orders of magnitude improvement over previous studies, we implement a number of innovations into our $\beta$-detected Nuclear Magnetic Resonance ($\beta$-NMR) setup at ISOLDE/CERN. A new beamline for laser spin-polarization at ISOLDE / Gins, W. (Leuven U.) ; Harding, R.D. (CERN ; York U., England) ; Baranowski, M. (Mickiewicz U., Poznan) ; Bissell, M.L. (Manchester U.) ; Garcia Ruiz, R.F. (Leuven U.) ; Kowalska, M. (CERN) ; Neyens, G. (Leuven U. ; CERN) ; Pallada, S. (CERN) ; Severijns, N. (Leuven U.) ; Velten, Ph. (Leuven U.) et al.
A beamline dedicated to the production of laser-polarized radioactive beams has been constructed at ISOLDE, CERN. We present here different simulations leading to the design and construction of the setup, as well as technical details of the full setup and examples of the achieved polarizations for several radioisotopes [...]

Versatile Ion-polarized Techniques On-line (VITO) experiment at ISOLDE-CERN / Stachura, M (CERN) ; Gottberg, A (CERN) ; Johnston, K (CERN ; Saarland U.) ; Bissell, M L (Leuven U.) ; Garcia Ruiz, R F (Leuven U.) ; Martins Correia, J (IST/ITN, Lisbon) ; Granadeiro Costa, A R (IST/ITN, Lisbon) ; Dehn, M (Munich, Tech. U.) ; Deicher, M (Saarland U.) ; Fenta, A (U. Aveiro (main)) et al.
The VITO (Versatile Ion-polarized Techniques Online) project is a new experimental setup at the ISOLDE facility at CERN. VITO is a dedicated beam line for producing laser-induced spin-polarized beams of both, atoms and ions, and it has been commissioned in response to the continuously growing demand for the use of spin-polarized beams. Nuclear moments of the low-lying isomeric 1$^+$ state of $^{34}$Al: Investigation on the neutron 1$p$1$h$ excitation across $N=20$ in the island of inversion / Xu, Z Y (Leuven U.) ; Heylen, H (Leuven U. ; CERN ; Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst.) ; Asahi, K (Nishina Ctr., RIKEN ; Tokyo Inst. Tech.) ; Boulay, F (CEA DAM) ; Daugas, J M (CEA DAM) ; de Groote, R P (Leuven U.) ; Gins, W (Leuven U.) ; Kamalou, O (GANIL) ; Koszorús, Á (Leuven U.) ; Lykiardopoulou, M (Athens U.) et al.
The nuclear $g$ factor and quadrupole moment ($Q_s$) have been measured for the low-lying isomeric $1^+$ state of $^{34}$Al, using the $\beta$-detected nuclear magnetic resonance ($\beta$-NMR) and quadrupole resonance ($\beta$-NQR) methods. Spin-polarized $^{34}$Al isotopes were produced in a one-neutron pickup reaction induced by a $^{36}$S beam on a $^9$Be target at a kinetic energy of 77.5 MeV/nucleon, and were collected with the LISE fragment separator at GANIL.
