/ Lombard, Cedric (CERN ; ESS, Lund) ; Albright, Simon (CERN) ; Asvesta, Foteini (CERN) ; Chapuis, Fabrice (CERN) ; Damerau, Heiko (CERN) ; Dutheil, Yann (CERN) ; Di Giovanni, Gian Piero (CERN) ; Huschauer, Alexander (CERN) ; Lasheen, Alexandre (CERN) ; Mikulec, Bettina (CERN) et al.
Antiprotons are generated at CERN by extracting a high-intensity proton beamfrom the Proton Synchrotron (PS) onto a target. The resulting antiprotons arecaptured in the Antiproton Decelerator (AD) ring. [...]

CERN’s digital Low-Level RF (LLRF) family for injectors is deployed on CERN’s PS Booster (PSB), Low Energy Ion Ring (LEIR), Extra Low ENergy Antiproton (ELENA) ring and Antiproton Decelerator (AD). It implements multiple capabilities, including beam and cavity feedback loops, bunch shaping, longitudinal blowup, bunch splitting and longitudinal diagnostics.New capabilities are now available and the LLRF family is soon going to be deployed for tests also in CERN’s Proton Synchrotron (PS). Tailoring transverse beam characteristics with the new CERN PS Booster charge-exchange injection system
/ Renner, E (TU Vienna) ; Albright, S (CERN) ; Antoniou, F (CERN) ; Asvesta, F (CERN) ; Bartosik, H (CERN) ; Bracco, C (CERN) ; Di Giovanni, G P (CERN) ; Mikulec, B (CERN) ; Prebibaj, T (CERN) ; Skowronski, P (CERN) et al.
A key aspect of the LHC Injectors Upgrade project is the connection of the PSB to the newly built Linac4 and the related installation of a new 160\,MeV charge-exchange injection system. The new injection system was commissioned in winter 2020/21 and is now used operationally to tailor the transverse characteristics for the various beam types at CERN, such as high-intensity fixed target beams, LHC single bunch beams, and high-brightness beams for LHC. Two-Dimensional Longitudinal Painting at Injection into the CERN PS Booster
/ Albright, Simon (CERN) ; Asvesta, Foteini (CERN) ; Bielawski, Bartosz Przemyslaw (CERN) ; Bracco, Chiara (CERN) ; Skowroński, Piotr (CERN) ; Wegner, Rolf (CERN)
To inject highest beam intensities at the transfer from Linac4 into the four rings of the PS Booster (PSB) at CERN, protons must be accumulated during up to 148 turns in total. With the conventional, fixed chopping pattern this process results in an approximately rectangular distribution in the longitudinal phase space. [...]

/ Albright, Simon (CERN) ; Angoletta, Maria Elena (CERN) ; Barrientos, Diego (CERN) ; Findlay, Alan (CERN) ; Jaussi, Michael (CERN) ; Molendijk, John (CERN)
The PS Booster (PSB) is the first synchrotron in the injection chain for protons. The beams produced for the LHC and various fixed target experiments cover a very large parameter space. [...]

Longitudinal Collective Effects at Beam Transfer from PS to SPS at CERN
/ Lasheen, Alexandre (CERN) ; Damerau, Heiko (CERN) ; Karpov, Ivan (CERN) ; Papotti, Giulia (CERN) ; Vinten, Evin (CERN)
The hardware upgrades of the LHC Injectors Upgrade (LIU) project at CERN were completed during the Long Shutdown 2 (2019-2021) to prepare the injectors for the beams required by the High Luminosity (HL) LHC. Doubling the bunch intensity leads to new challenges due to collective effects. [...]

Longitudinal Injection Schemes For the CERN PS Booster at 160 MeV Including Space Charge Effects
/ Forte, Vincenzo (CERN) ; Benedetto, Elena (CERN) ; Lombardi, Alessandra (CERN) ; Quartullo, Danilo (CERN)
In the frame of the LHC Injectors Upgrade project, the CERN PS Booster will be equipped with a H⁻ injection system at 160 MeV to tailor the initial transverse and longitudinal profiles. We are here reviewing the different multi-turn longitudinal injection schemes, from the beam dynamics point of view, taking into account the needs of the large variety of the PSB users, spanning in intensity from 5·10⁹ to about 1.6·10¹³ protons per bunch.
