Simulation studies of the beam cooling process in presence of heating effects in the Extra Low ENergy Antiproton ring (ELENA) / Resta-López, J (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Liverpool U.) ; Hunt, J R (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Liverpool U.) ; Karamyshev, O (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Liverpool U.) ; Welsch, C P (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Liverpool U.)
The Extra Low ENergy Antiproton ring (ELENA) is a small synchrotron equipped with an electron cooler, which is currently being constructed at CERN to further decelerate antiprotons from the Antiproton Decelerator (AD) from 5.3 MeV to energies as low as 100 keV. At such low energies it is very important to carefully take contributions from electron cooling and beam heating mechanisms (e.g. [...]

Sci. Tech.) ; Resta-López, Javier (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Liverpool U.) ; Welsch, Carsten (Liverpool U. ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.)
The Extra Low ENergy Antiproton (ELENA) ring will provide seven different experiments at CERN with cooled beams of low energy (~100 keV) antiprotons. As a result, a system of transfer lines is being designed to ensure that each experiment receives a beam with its required properties. [...]

Review of rest gas interaction at very low energies applied to the Extra Low Energy Antiproton ring ELENA / Carli, C (CERN) ; Rijoff, T (CERN) ; Karamyshev, O (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; U. Liverpool (main)) ; Welsch, C P (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; U. Liverpool (main))
The Extremely Low ENergy Antiproton ring (ELENA) is a small synchrotron equipped with an electron cooler, which shall be constructed at CERN to decelerate antiprotons to energies as low as 100 keV. Scattering of beam particles on rest gas molecules may have a detrimental effect at such low energies and leads to stringent vacuum requirements [...]

Beam position monitor R&D for keV ion beams / Naveed, S (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Liverpool U.) ; Welsch, C P (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Liverpool U.) ; Nosych, A (CERN ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Liverpool U.) ; Søby,L (CERN)
Beams of cooled antiprotons at keV energies shall be provided by the Ultra-low energy Storage Ring (USR) at the Facility for Low energy Antiproton and Ion Research (FLAIR) and the Extra Low ENergy Antiproton ring (ELENA) at CERN's Antiproton Decelerator (AD) facility. Both storage rings put challenging demands on the beam position monitoring (BPM) system as their capacitive pick-ups should be capable of determining the beam position of beams at low intensities and low velocities, close to the noise level of state-of-the-art electronics. [...]

3D Tracking Methods in a GEANT4 Environment Through Electrostatic Beamlines / Hunt, James (U. Liverpool (main) ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Resta-López, Javier (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; U. Liverpool (main)) ; Rodin, Volodymyr (U. Liverpool (main) ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Veglia, Bianca (U. Liverpool (main) ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Welsch, Carsten (U. Liverpool (main) ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.)
Due to the relatively infrequent use of electrostatic beamline elements compared with their magnetic counterparts, there are few particle tracking codes which allow for the straightforward implementation of such beamlines. In this contribution, we present 3D tracking methods for beamlines containing electrostatic elements utilising a modified version of the Geant4 based tracking code 'G4beamline'. [...]

The Extra Low ENergy Antiproton storage ring (ELENA), which is currently being commissioned at CERN, will further decelerate antiprotons extracted from the Antiproton Decelerator (AD) from 5.3 MeV to energies as low as 100 keV. It will provide high quality beams for the antimatter experiments located within the AD hall. [...]

Investigations into beam monitors at the AE$\bar {g}$IS experiment / Sosa, A (CERN ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Liverpool U.) ; Bravin, E (CERN) ; Jeff, A (CERN) ; Harasimowicz, J (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Liverpool U.) ; Welsch, C P (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Liverpool U.)
Detailed diagnostic of antiproton beams at low energies is required for essentially all experiments at the Antiproton Decelerator (AD), but will be particularly important for the future Extra Low ENergy Antiproton ring (ELENA) and its keV beam lines to the different experiments. Many monitors have been successfully developed and operated at the AD, but in particular beam profile monitoring remains a challenge. [...]

Carbon Nanotubes as Cold Electron Field Emitters for Electron Cooling in the CERN Extra Low Energy Antiproton (ELENA) Ring / Galante, Bruno (CERN ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Liverpool U.) ; Apsimon, Oznur (Liverpool U. ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Resta-López, Javier (GACE-ICMUV) ; Tranquille, Gerard A (CERN) ; Welsch, Carsten P (Liverpool U. ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.)
In ELENA electron cooling reduces the emittance of the antiproton beam allowing to deliver a high-quality beam to the experiments at the unprecedented low energy of 100 keV. To cool the antiproton beam at this low energy, the electron gun must emit electrons with as monoenergetic a distribution as possible. [...]
