Vertex locator (VELO) is a silicon microstrip detector situated around the interaction point in the large Hadron Collider beauty (LHCb) spectrometer at the Large Hadron Collider. The LHCb experiment is dedicated to studying charge conjugation and parity symmetry violation in the heavy flavor sector and rare decays of B mesons. [...]

The LHCb Vertex Locator (VELO) is a silicon strip detector designed to reconstruct charged particle trajectories and vertices produced at the LHCb interaction region. During the first two years of data collection, the 84 VELO sensors have been exposed to a range of fluences up to a maximum value of approximately $\rm{45 \times 10^{12}\,1\,MeV}$ neutron equivalent ($\rm{1\,MeV\,n_{eq}}$). The LHCb VELO Upgrade module construction
/ Akiba, K. (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Alexander, M. (Glasgow U.) ; Bertella, C. (Manchester U.) ; Biolchini, A. (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Bitadze, A. (Manchester U.) ; Bogdanova, G. The LHCb detector has undergone a major upgrade for LHC Run 3. This Upgrade I detector facilitates operation at higher luminosity and utilises full-detector information at the LHC collision rate, critically including the use of vertex information. [...]

Phase I Upgrade of the Readout System of the Vertex Detector at the LHCb Experiment
/ Prieto, Antonio Fernández (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE) ; Vázquez Regueiro, Pablo (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE) ; Hennessy, Karol (Liverpool U.) ; Buytaert, Jan (CERN) ; van Beuzekom, Martin (Nikhef, Amsterdam) ; Lemos Cid, Edgar (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE) ; Eklund, Lars (Glasgow U.) ; de Bruyn, Kristof (CERN) ; Naik, Sneha (Glasgow U.) ; Schiller, Manuel (Glasgow U.) et al.
This article describes the high-speed system designed to meet the challenging requirements for the readout of the new pixel VErtex LOcator (VELO) of the upgraded LHCb experiment. All elements of the electronics readout chain will be renewed to cope with the requirement of ~40-MHz full-event readout rate. [...]

Probing the nature of the $\chi_{c1}(3872)$ state using radiative decays
/ LHCb Collaboration
The radiative decays $\chi_{c1}(3872)\rightarrow \psi(2S)\gamma$ and $\chi_{c1}(3872)\rightarrow J/\psi\gamma$ are used to probe the nature of the $\chi_{c1}(3872)$ state using proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9fb$^{-1}$. Using the $B^+ \rightarrow \chi_{c1}(3872)K^+$ decay, the $\chi_{c1}(3872)\rightarrow \psi(2S)\gamma$ process is observed for the~first time and the ratio of its partial width to that of the $\chi_{c1}(3872)\rightarrow J/\psi\gamma$ decay is measured to be $$ \frac{\Gamma_{\chi_{c1}(3872)\rightarrow \psi(2S)\gamma}} {\Gamma_{\chi_{c1}(3872)\rightarrow J\psi\gamma}} = 1.67 \pm 0.21 \pm 0.12 \pm0.04, $$ where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic and the third is due to the uncertainties on the branching fractions of the $\psi(2S)$ and $J/\psi$ mesons.
