Upgrade of MAD-X for HL-LHC project and FCC studies / Deniau, Laurent (CERN) ; Burkhardt, Helmut (CERN) ; De Maria, Riccardo (CERN) ; Giovannozzi, Massimo (CERN) ; Gläßle, Thomas (Heidelberg U. The design efforts for the High Luminosity upgrade project of the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) and for the FCC-ee studies required significant extensions of the MAD-X code, widely used for designing and simulating particle accelerators. The modelling of synchrotron radiation effects has recently been reviewed, improved, and tested on the lattices of ESRF, LEP, and CLIC Final Focus System [...]

Evolution of MAD-X in the framework of LHC upgrade studies / Deniau, L (CERN) ; Latina, A (CERN)
The design efforts for the High Luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) will require significant extensions of the MAD-X code widely used for designing and simulating particles accelerators. For this purpose, several new capabilities have been added to the code, namely the possibility to simulate crab cavities for crossing angle compensation, with their imperfections; and the upgrade of the interface to Sixtrack used for distributed tracking with, e.g., LHC@home. [...]

Xsuite: an integrated beam physics simulation framework / Iadarola, Giovanni (CERN) ; Latina, Andrea (CERN) ; Abramov, Andrey (CERN) ; Montanari, Carlo Emilio (CERN) ; Droin, Colas (CERN) ; Di Croce, Davide (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Demetriadou, Despina (CERN) ; Soubelet, Felix (CERN) ; Van der Veken, Frederik (CERN) ; Sterbini, Guido (CERN) et al.
Xsuite is a modular simulation package bringing to a single flexible and modern framework capabilities of different tools developed at CERN in the past decades notably MAD-X Sixtrack Sixtracklib COMBI and PyHEADTAIL. The suite consists of a set of Python modules (Xobjects, Xpart, Xtrack, Xcoll, Xfields, Xdeps) that can be flexibly combined together and with other accelerator-specific and general-purpose python tools to study complex simulation scenarios. Sextupole RDTs in the LHC at injection and in the ramp / Horney, S J (CERN ; Oxford U.) ; Maclean, E (CERN) ; Burrows, P (Oxford U.) ; Carlier, F (CERN) ; Dilly, J (CERN) ; Deniau, L (CERN) ; Ferrentino, V (CERN) ; Fol, E (CERN) ; Hofer, M (CERN) ; Keintzel, J (CERN) et al.
During 2023, examination of the action dependence of sextupolar resonance driving terms (RDT) in the LHC at injection, as measured with an AC-dipole, demonstrated that a robust measurement of the RDTs could still be achieved even with very small amplitude kicks, typically used for linear optics studies. Consequently, analysis of optics measurements from 2022 and 2023 during the LHC energy ramp allowed a first measurement of the sextupole resonance evolution. [...]

MAD-X for Future Accelerators / Persson, T H B (CERN) ; Burkhardt, Helmut (CERN) ; Deniau, Laurent (CERN) ; Latina, Andrea (CERN) ; Skowroński, Piotr (CERN)
The feasibility and performance of the future accelerators must, to a large extent, be predicted by simulation codes. This implies that simulation codes need to include effects that previously played a minor role. [...]

MAD-X progress and future plans / Deniau, L (CERN)
The design efforts for the High Luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) will require significant extensions of the MAD-X code widely used for designing and simulating particles accelerators. These changes are framed into a global redesign of the MADX architecture meant to consolidate its structure, increase its robustness and flexibility, and improve its performance. [...]

Upgrade of Slicing and Tracking in MAD-X / Burkhardt, Helmut (CERN) ; Deniau, Laurent (CERN) ; Latina, Andrea (CERN)
We describe the extension of the functionality of the slicing module and its applications in MAD-X. We can now select thick or thin slicing for individual quadrupoles or groups of quadrupoles and implemented tracking of thick quadrupoles and dipoles in MAD-X. [...]

MAD-X for Future Accelerators / Persson, Tobias (CERN) ; Burkhardt, Helmut (CERN) ; De Maria, Riccardo (CERN) ; Deniau, Laurent (CERN) ; Høydalsvik, Eirik (CERN) ; Latina, Andrea (CERN) ; Skowroński, Piotr (CERN) ; Tomás García, Rogelio (CERN) ; van Riesen-Haupt, Léon (CERN)
The development of MAD-X was started more than 20 years ago and it still remains the main tool for single particle dynamics for both optics design, error studies as well as for operational model-based software at CERN. In this article, we outline some of the recent development of MAD-X and plans for the future. [...]
