High luminosity fixed-target experiment at the LHC / Hadjidakis, Cynthia (Orsay, IPN) ; Brodsky, S.J. (SLAC) ; Cavoto, G. (INFN, Rome ; Rome U.) ; Da Silva, C. (Los Alamos) ; Donato, F. (Turin U. ; INFN, Turin) ; Echevarria, M.G. (INFN, Pavia) ; Ferreiro, E.G. (Santiago de Compostela U.) ; Hřivnáčová, I. (Orsay, IPN) ; Kikola, D. (Warsaw U. of Tech.) ; Klein, A. (Los Alamos) et al.
By extracting the beam with a bent crystal or by using an internal gas target, the multi-TeV proton and lead LHC beams allow one to perform the most energetic fixed-target experiments ever and to study $pp$, $p$d and $p$A collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=115$ GeV and Pb$p$ and PbA collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=72$ GeV with high precision and modern detection techniques. Such studies would address open questions in the domain of the nucleon and nucleus partonic structure at high-$x$, quark-gluon plasma and, by using longitudinally or transversally polarised targets, spin physics. Physics perspectives with AFTER@LHC (A Fixed Target ExpeRiment at LHC) / Massacrier, L. (Orsay, IPN) ; Anselmino, M. (INFN, Turin ; Turin U.) ; Arnaldi, R. (INFN, Turin ; Turin U.) ; Brodsky, S.J. (SLAC) ; Chambert, V. (Orsay, IPN) ; Da Silva, C. (Los Alamos) ; Didelez, J.P. (Orsay, IPN) ; Echevarria, M.G. (INFN, Pavia) ; Ferreiro, E.G. (Santiago de Compostela U.) ; Fleuret, F. (Ecole Polytechnique) et al.
AFTER@LHC is an ambitious fixed-target project in order to address open questions in the domain of proton and neutron spins, Quark Gluon Plasma and high-$x$ physics, at the highest energy ever reached in the fixed-target mode. Indeed, thanks to the highly energetic 7 TeV proton and 2.76 A.TeV lead LHC beams, center-of-mass energies as large as $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 115 GeV in pp/pA and $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 72 GeV in AA can be reached, corresponding to an uncharted energy domain between SPS and RHIC. Spin Physics with a fixed-target experiment at the LHC / Echevarria, M.G. (INFN, Pavia) ; Brodsky, S.J. (SLAC) ; Cavoto, G. (INFN, Rome ; Rome U.) ; Da Silva, C. (Los Alamos) ; Donato, F. (INFN, Turin ; Turin U.) ; Ferreiro, E.G. (Santiago de Compostela U.) ; Hadjidakis, C. (Orsay, IPN) ; Hřivnácová, I. (Orsay, IPN) ; Kikoła, D. (Warsaw U. of Tech.) ; Klein, A. (Los Alamos) et al.
The multi-TeV proton and ion beams of the LHC would allow for the most energetic fixed-target experiment ever. In particular, $pp$, $p$d and $p$A collisions could be performed at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 115~GeV, as well as Pb$p$ and PbA collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 72~GeV, in a parasitic way by making use of the already existing LHCb and ALICE detectors in fixed-target mode. A fixed-target programme at the LHC for heavy-ion, hadron, spin and astroparticle physics: AFTER@LHC / AFTER@LHC study Collaboration
Thanks to its multi-TeV LHC proton and lead beams, the LHC complex allows one to perform the most energetic fixed-target experiments ever and to study with high precision pp, pd and pA collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 115$ GeV and Pbp and PbA collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 72$ GeV. We present a selection of feasibility studies for the production of quarkonia, open heavy-flavor mesons as well as light-flavor hadrons in pA and PbA collisions using the LHCb and ALICE detectors in a fixed-target mode..

Ultra-peripheral-collision studies in the fixed-target mode with the proton and lead LHC beams / Yamanaka, Nodoka (Orsay, IPN) ; Hadjidakis, C. (Orsay, IPN) ; Kikoła, D. (Warsaw U. of Tech.) ; Lansberg, J.P. (Orsay, IPN) ; Massacrier, L. (Orsay, IPN) ; Echevarria, M.G. (INFN, Pavia) ; Kusina, A. (Cracow, INP) ; Schienbein, I. (LPSC, Grenoble) ; Seixas, J. (IST, Lisbon (main) ; LIP, Lisbon) ; Shao, H.S. (Paris, LPTHE) et al.
We address the physics case related to the studies of ultra-peripheral pH, pPb, PbH, and PbPb collisions in the fixed-target mode at the LHC. In particular, we discuss how one can measure the gluon generalized parton distribution $E_g(x,\xi,t)$ in exclusive $J/psi$ photoproduction with a transversely polarized hydrogen target..

Quarkonium-photoproduction prospects at a fixed-target experiment at the LHC (AFTER@LHC) / Massacrier, L. (Orsay, IPN) ; Lansberg, J.P. (Orsay, IPN) ; Szymanowski, L. (Warsaw, Inst. Nucl. Studies) ; Wagner, J. (Warsaw, Inst. Nucl. Studies)
We report on the potentialities offered by a fixed-target experiment at the LHC using the proton and ion LHC beams (AFTER@LHC project) regarding the study of J/psi exclusive-photoproduction in pA and AA collisions. The foreseen usage of polarised targets (hydrogen, deuteron, helium) gives access to measurements of the Single-Transverse-Spin Asymmetries of this exclusive process, therefore allowing one to access the helicity-flip Generalised Parton Distribution (GPD) Eg. Charged particle tracking has been a major component of data-processing in high-energy physics experiments such as the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), and is fore- seen to become more and more challenging. There are many ways to perform the tracking task; a collaborative platform, RAMP, has been set up so that developers can create algo- rithms to solve a simplified 2D tracking problems. [...]

LHCb results from proton ion collisions / Massacrier, Laure (Orsay, LAL ; Orsay, IPN) /on behalf of the LHCb Collaboration
Proton-lead and lead-proton data taking during 2013 has allowed LHCb to expand its physics program to heavy ion physics. Results include the first forward measurement of Z production in proton-lead collisions as well as a measurement of the nuclear modification factor and forward-backward production of prompt and displaced J/$\psi$, $\psi$(2S) and $\Upsilon$. Feasibility of $\tau$ -lepton electromagnetic dipole moments measurement using bent crystal at the LHC / Fomin, A.S. (Kharkov, KIPT ; CERN) ; Korchin, A. Yu (Kharkov, KIPT ; Kharkov Natl. U.) ; Stocchi, A. (Orsay, LAL) ; Barsuk, S. (Orsay, LAL) ; Robbe, P. (Orsay, LAL)
In this paper we discuss the possibility of measuring the anomalous magnetic and electric dipole moments of the $\tau$ lepton. The method consists in studying the spin precession induced by the strong effective magnetic field inside channels of a bent crystal with a dedicated setup at the CERN Large Hadron Collider..
