The ATLAS Electron and Photon Trigger / Jones, Samuel David (University of Sussex) /ATLAS Collaboration
ATLAS electron and photon triggers covering transverse energies from 5 GeV to several TeV are essential to record signals for a wide variety of physics: from Standard Model processes to searches for new phenomena. To cope with ever-increasing luminosity and more challenging pile-up conditions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, the trigger selections need to be optimized to control the rates and keep efficiencies high. The ATLAS Electron and Photon Trigger / Jones, Samuel David (University of Sussex) /ATLAS Collaboration
Electron and photon triggers covering transverse energies from 5 GeV to several TeV are essential for signal selection in a wide variety of ATLAS physics analyses to study Standard Model processes and to search for new phenomena. Final states including leptons and photons had, for example, an important role in the discovery and measurement of the Higgs boson. [...]

Searches for squarks and gluinos with ATLAS / Jones, Samuel David (University of Sussex) /ATLAS Collaboration
Despite the absence of experimental evidence, weak scale supersymmetry remains one of the best motivated and studied Standard Model extensions. From strongly produced initial states, SUSY phenomenology offers a rich array of observable signatures. [...]

Searches for direct top squark pair production in compressed Supersymmetry scenarios with the ATLAS detector / Jones, Samuel David (Sussex U.)

Searches for direct top squark pair production in compressed Supersymmetry scenarios with the ATLAS detector / Jones, Samuel David (University of Sussex) /ATLAS Collaboration
In order for supersymmetry to stabilise the Higgs boson mass, the mass of the scalar partner of the top quark (the stop) is required to be below around 1 TeV. The decay of the stop is dependent on the mass difference $\Delta m = m_{\tilde{t}} - m_{\chi}$ between the stop and the lightest neutralino, assumed to be stable. [...]

The ATLAS electron and photon performance during the Run 2 is presented, including new techniques developed to maintain their high performance even in high pile-up conditions.
