A Geant4-based simulation study for a preliminary setup of the MUonE experiment / Asenov, Patrick (INFN, Perugia ; CNR IRPI, Perugia) ; Abbiendi, Giovanni (INFN, Bologna) ; Goncerz, Mateusz (Cracow, INP) ; Ivanchenko, Vladimir (CERN) ; Kucharczyk, Marcin (Cracow, INP) ; Loukas, Dimitrios (Democritos Nucl. Res. Ctr.) ; Marconi, Umberto (INFN, Bologna) ; Matteuzzi, Clara (INFN, Milan Bicocca) ; Zdybal, Milosz (Cracow, INP)
MUonE is a proposed experiment which aims at an independent and precise determination of the leading hadronic contribution to the muon $g-2$, based on the measurement of the hadronic running of the electromagnetic coupling in the space-like region. This can be achieved by measuring with extremely high accuracy the shape of the differential cross section of the $\mu e$ elastic scattering, using a 160$\,$GeV muon beam available at CERN, off atomic electrons of a light target. Validation Test of Geant4 Simulation of Electron Backscattering / Kim, Sung Hun (Hanyang U.) ; Pia, Maria Grazia (INFN, Genoa) ; Basaglia, Tullio (CERN) ; Han, Min Cheol (Hanyang U.) ; Hoff, Gabriela ; Kim, Chan Hyeong (Hanyang U.) ; Saracco, Paolo (INFN, Genoa)
Backscattering is a sensitive probe of the accuracy of electron scattering algorithms implemented in Monte Carlo codes. The capability of the Geant4 toolkit to describe realistically the fraction of electrons backscattered from a target volume is extensively and quantitatively evaluated in comparison with experimental data retrieved from the literature. [...]

Towards a full and realistic simulation framework for the Extreme Energy Events experiment / EEE Collaboration
The network of MRPC (Multi-gap Resistive Plate Chambers) telescopes of the Extreme Energy Events experiment (EEE) was designed to study very high energy cosmic rays through detection of secondary cosmic muons in the hadronic shower. To better understand and predict the behavior of such events, a GEANT4-based simulation framework that well reproduces the response of individual telescopes was built. [...]

Fast Simulation of the CMS Detector at the LHC / Abdullin, Salavat (Fermilab) ; Azzi, Patrizia (INFN, Padua) ; Beaudette, Florian (Ecole Polytechnique) ; Janot, Patrick (CERN) ; Perrotta , Andrea (INFN, Bologna) /CMS Collaboration
The CMS collaboration has developed a fast Monte Carlo simulation of the CMS detector with event production rates about 100 times faster than the GEANT4-based simulation, with nonetheless comparable accuracy for most of the physics objects typically considered in the analyses. We discuss basic technical principles of the CMS Fast Simulation and their implementation in the different components of the detector: the silicon tracker, the electromagnetic calorimeter, the hadronic calorimeter, the muon system, the Level 1 and the High Level Trigger. A fully parametric option in the LHCb simulation framework / Siddi, Benedetto Gianluca (INFN, Ferrara)
Faster alternatives to a detailed, GEANT4-based simulation are being pursued within the LHCb experiment. In this context the integration of the Delphes toolkit in the LHCb simulation framework is intended to provide a fully parameterized option. [...]
