Search for $D^{0}$-meson production in p-p interactions at a centre- of-mass energy of 53 GeV / Alder, J C ; Block, M ; Böhm, A ; Ceradini, F ; DiBitonto, Daryl ; Irion, J ; Joseph, C ; Kernan, A ; Layter, J ; Müller, F et al.
A search for D(1.87) mesons produced at x approximately 0.1 at the CERN ISR gave a null result. Cross-section upper limits of 9 mu b and 8 mu b at the 95% confidence level were measured for the processes p+p to D/sup 0/+X, D/sup 0/ to K/sup -/+ pi /sup +/, and p+p to D/sup 0 /+X, D/sup 0/ to K/sup +/+ pi /sup -/, respectively. A remark concerning 20 plet dominance in charm decays / Bigi, Ikaros I (CERN)
Based on V spin consideration, it is argued that 20 plet dominance in the effective weak Lagrangian does not strongly reduce the inclusive decay rate of D/sup +/ mesons. Decays of the type D to K rho , K* pi , rho pi are discussed in pointing out that 20 dominance should lead to a large enhancement of D/sup +/ to K/sup 0/ rho /sup +/, (K/sup 0/)* pi /sup +/ over D/sup +/ to K/sup 0/ pi /sup +/; W exchange, on the other hand, leads to a sizeable suppression of D/sup 0/ to K/sup -/ rho /sup +/, (K/sup -/)* pi /sup +/ relative to D/sup 0/ to K/sup -/ pi /sup +/. Results on $D*^{\pm}$ production from CERN experiment WA92 / Lazzeroni, C (INFN) /BEATRICE Collaboration
We report on D*/sup +or-/ production in interactions between 350 GeV /c pi /sup -/ particles and nuclei. Reconstruction of the decay D* /sup +/ to D/sup 0/ pi /sup +/ and charge conjugate, with D/sup 0/ identified via its decays to $9 K/sup -/ pi /sup +/ and K/sup -/ pi /sup -/ pi /sup +/ pi /sup +/, has allowed isolation of a sample of 612+or-28 D*/sup +or-/ mesons, produced at positive x/sub F/. The conversion probability and emission ratio of charged Sigma - hyperons following K/sup -/ meson capture at rest in carbon / Van der Velde-Wilquet, C ; Keyes, G S ; Sacton, J ; Wickens, J H
A study has been made of K/sup -/ meson interactions at rest in the CERN 1.1 m/sup 3/ heavy liquid bubble chamber filled with a mixture of hydrocarbons. The data are used to determine (i) the internal conversion probability, C( Sigma /sup -/), of Sigma /sup -/ hyperons produced in association with pi /sup +/ mesons by K/sup -/ meson interactions in carbon nuclei, (ii) the relative emission frequencies of ( Sigma /sup +/ pi /sup +/) and ( Sigma /sup -/ pi /sup +/) pairs, E( Sigma /sup +/ pi /sup +// Sigma /sup -/ pi /sup +/), and the emission frequency E( Sigma /sup +or-/ pi /sup -or+//K/sup -/), of ( Sigma /sup +or-/ pi /sup -or+/) pairs per K/sup -/ meson absorption in carbon, (iii) the branching fraction, P( Sigma /sup -/ pi /sup +//K /sup -/), for the primary process K/sup -/+p to Sigma /sup -/+ pi /sup +/ in carbon and (iv) the trapping probability, T( Lambda /sup 0/), for Lambda /sup 0/ hyperons produced by Sigma /sup -/ hyperon interactions in carbon nuclei.
