/ Prieto, Antonio Fernández (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE) ; Vázquez Regueiro, Pablo (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE) ; Hennessy, Karol (Liverpool U.) ; Buytaert, Jan (CERN) ; van Beuzekom, Martin (Nikhef, Amsterdam) ; Lemos Cid, Edgar (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE) ; Eklund, Lars (Glasgow U.) ; de Bruyn, Kristof (CERN) ; Naik, Sneha (Glasgow U.) ; Schiller, Manuel (Glasgow U.) et al.
This article describes the high-speed system designed to meet the challenging requirements for the readout of the new pixel VErtex LOcator (VELO) of the upgraded LHCb experiment. All elements of the electronics readout chain will be renewed to cope with the requirement of ~40-MHz full-event readout rate. [...]

/ Hennessy, Karol (U. Liverpool (main)) ; Prieto, Antonio Fernandez (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE) ; Regueiro, Pablo Vazquez (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE) ; Buytaert, Jan (CERN) ; Van Beuzekom, Martin (Nikhef, Amsterdam) ; Cid, Edgar Lemos (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE) ; Eklund, Lars (Glasgow U.) ; de Bruyn, Kristof (Nikhef, Amsterdam) ; Naik, Sneha (Glasgow U.) ; Schiller, Manuel (Glasgow U.) et al.
The new LHCb Vertex Locator (VELO) for LHCb, comprising a new pixel detector and readout electronics, will be installed in 2021 for data taking in Run 3 at the LHC. The electronics centers around the “VeloPix” ASIC at the front-end operating in a trigger-less readout at 40MHz. [...]

The Large Hadron Collider beauty (LHCb) detector is designed to detect decays of b- and c- hadrons for the study of CP violation and rare decays. At the end of the LHC Run 2, many of the LHCb measurements remained statistically dominated. [...]

Characterisation of Medipix3 Silicon Detectors in a Charged-Particle Beam
/ Akiba, K. (Rio de Janeiro Federal U.) ; Alozy, J. (CERN) ; Aoude, R.Tourinho (Rio de Janeiro, Pont. U. Catol.) ; van Beuzekom, M. (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Buytaert, J. (CERN) ; Collins, P. (CERN) ; Dosil Suárez, A. (Santiago de Compostela U.) ; Dumps, R. (CERN) ; Gallas, A. (Santiago de Compostela U.) ; Hombach, C. (Manchester U.) et al.
While designed primarily for X-ray imaging applications, the Medipix3 ASIC can also be used for charged-particle tracking. In this work, results from a beam test at the CERN SPS with irradiated and non-irradiated sensors are presented and shown to be in agreement with simulation, demonstrating the suitability of the Medipix3 ASIC as a tool for characterising pixel sensors..

Probing active-edge silicon sensors using a high precision telescope
/ Akiba, K (Rio de Janeiro Federal U.) ; Artuso, M (Syracuse U.) ; van Beveren, V (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; van Beuzekom, M (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Boterenbrood, H (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Buytaert, J (CERN) ; Collins, P (CERN) ; Dumps, R (CERN) ; van der Heijden, B (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Hombach, C (Manchester U.) et al.
The performance of prototype active-edge VTT sensors bump-bonded to the Timepix ASIC is presented. Non-irradiated sensors of thicknesses 100–200 μm and pixel-to-edge distances of 50 μm and 100 μm were probed with a beam of charged hadrons with sub-pixel precision using the Timepix telescope assembled at the SPS at CERN. Study of $J/\psi$ production and cold nuclear matter effects in $p$Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 5 TeV
/ LHCb Collaboration
The production of $J/\psi$ mesons with rapidity 1.5 < $y$ < 4.0 or -5.0 < $y$ <-2.5 and transverse momentum $p_\mathrm{T}$ < 14 GeV/$c$ is studied with the LHCb detector in proton-lead collisions at a proton-nucleon centre-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=5~\mathrm{TeV}$. The J/ψ mesons are reconstructed using the dimuon decay mode. [...]
