Multiple Membranes in M-theory / Bagger, Jonathan (Johns Hopkins U.) ; Lambert, Neil (Newton Inst. Math. Sci., Cambridge ; King's Coll. London, Dept. Math ; CERN) ; Mukhi, Sunil (Newton Inst. Math. Sci., Cambridge ; Tata Inst.) ; Papageorgakis, Constantinos (Newton Inst. Math. Sci., Cambridge ; Rutgers U., Piscataway)
We review developments in the theory of multiple, parallel membranes in M-theory. After discussing the inherent difficulties pertaining to a maximally supersymmetric lagrangian formulation with the appropriate field content and symmetries, we discuss how introducing the concept of 3-algebras allows for such a description. Periodic Arrays of M2-Branes / Jeon, Imtak (Sogang U. ; CERN) ; Lambert, Neil (CERN ; Newton Inst. Math. Sci., Cambridge ; King's Coll. London, Dept. Math) ; Richmond, Paul (King's Coll. London, Dept. Math)
We consider periodic arrays of M2-branes in the ABJM model in the spirit of a circle compactification to D2-branes in type IIA string theory. The result is a curious formulation of three-dimensional maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in terms of fermions, seven transverse scalars, a non-dynamical gauge field and an additional scalar `dual gluon'. Nonabelian (2,0) Tensor Multiplets and 3-algebras / Lambert, Neil (CERN) ; Papageorgakis, Constantinos (King's Coll. London, Dept. Math)
Using 3-algebras we obtain a nonabelian system of equations that furnish a representation of the (2,0)-supersymmetric tensor multiplet. The on-shell conditions are quite restrictive so that the system can be reduced to five-dimensional gauge theory along with six-dimensional abelian (2,0) tensor multiplets. [...]

M-Theory and Maximally Supersymmetric Gauge Theories / Lambert, Neil (CERN ; King's Coll. London, Dept. Math)
In this informal review for non-specalists we discuss the construction of maximally supersymmetric gauge theories that arise on the worldvolumes branes in String Theory and M-Theory. Particular focus is made on the relatively recent construction of M2-brane worldvolume theories. [...]
