Perspectives of heavy-quarkonium production at FCC-ee / He, Zhi-Guo (Hamburg U., Inst. Theor. Phys. II) ; Kniehl, Bernd A (Hamburg U., Inst. Theor. Phys. II)
Due to its non-relativistic nature, heavy quarkonium constituted by heavy quark-anti-quark pairs (Q ¯ Q = b ¯ b or c¯ c) is an ideal object to investigate bothperturbative and non-pertative aspects of QCD. The non-relativistic QCDfactorization formalism [1] built on the rigorous effective field theory [2]provides a powerful tool to systematically calculate heavy-quarkonium productionand decay. [...]

New predictions for inclusive heavy-quarkonium P-wave decays / Brambilla, Nora (INFN, Milan ; Milan U.) ; Eiras, Dolors (Barcelona U., ECM ; Barcelona, IFAE) ; Pineda, Antonio (Karlsruhe U., TTP) ; Soto, Joan (Barcelona U., ECM ; Barcelona, IFAE) ; Vairo, Antonio (CERN)
We show that some NRQCD colour-octet matrix elements can be written in terms of (derivatives of) wave functions at the origin and non-perturbative universal constants once the factorization between the soft and ultrasoft scale is achieved by using an effective field theory where only ultrasoft degrees of freedom are kept as dynamical entities. This allows us to derive a new set of relations between inclusive heavy-quarkonium P-wave decays into light hadrons with different principal quantum number and with different heavy flavour. [...]

NRQCD Confronts LHCb Data on Quarkonium Production within Jets / Bain, Reggie (Duke U.) ; Dai, Lin (Pittsburgh U.) ; Leibovich, Adam (Pittsburgh U.) ; Makris, Yiannis (Duke U.) ; Mehen, Thomas (Duke U.)
We analyze the recent LHCb measurement of the distribution of the fraction of the transverse momentum, $z(J/\psi)$, carried by the $J/\psi$ within a jet. LHCb data is compared to analytic calculations using the fragmenting jet function (FJF) formalism for studying $J/\psi$ in jets. [...]

We summarise the perspectives on heavy-quarkonium production at the LHC, both for proton-proton and heavy-ion runs, as emanating from the round table held at the HLPW 2008 Conference. The main topics are: present experimental and theoretical knowledge, experimental capabilities, open questions, recent theoretical advances and potentialities linked to some new observables..

Production of heavy quarks and heavy quarkonia / Schuler, Gerhard A. (CERN)
Uncertainties in the next-to-leading-order calculations of heavy-quark ($Q$) production are investigated. Predictions for total cross sections, single-inclusive distributions of heavy quarks and heavy flavoured hadrons, as well as for $Q\bar{Q}$ correlations, are compared with charm and bottom data. New approach to the resummation of logarithms in Higgs-boson decays to a vector quarkonium plus a photon / Bodwin, Geoffrey T. (Argonne) ; Chung, Hee Sok (CERN) ; Ee, June-Haak (Korea U.) ; Lee, Jungil (Korea U.)
We present a calculation of the rates for Higgs-boson decays to a vector heavy-quarkonium state plus a photon, where the heavy quarkonium states are the J/psi and the Upsilon(nS) states, with n=1, 2, or 3. The calculation is carried out in the light-cone formalism, combined with nonrelativistic QCD factorization, and is accurate at leading order in m_Q^2/m_H^2, where m_Q is the heavy-quark mass and m_H is the Higgs-boson mass.
