Higgs mass and vacuum stability in the Standard Model at NNLO
/ Degrassi, Giuseppe (INFN, Rome3) ; Di Vita, Stefano (INFN, Rome3) ; Elias-Miró, Joan (Barcelona, IFAE) ; Espinosa, José R (Barcelona, IFAE ; ICREA, Barcelona) ; Giudice, Gian F (CERN) ; Isidori, Gino (CERN ; LNF, Dafne Light) ; Strumia, Alessandro (INFN, Pisa ; NICPB, Tallinn)
We present the first complete next-to-next-to-leading order analysis of the Standard Model Higgs potential. We computed the two-loop QCD and Yukawa corrections to the relation between the Higgs quartic coupling (lambda) and the Higgs mass (Mh), reducing the theoretical uncertainty in the determination of the critical value of Mh for vacuum stability to 1 GeV. Higgs mass implications on the stability of the electroweak vacuum
/ Elias-Miro, Joan (Barcelona, IFAE) ; Espinosa, Jose R (Barcelona, IFAE ; ICREA, Barcelona) ; Giudice, Gian F (CERN) ; Isidori, Gino (CERN ; Frascati) ; Riotto, Antonio (CERN ; INFN, Padua) ; Strumia, Alessandro (Pisa U. ; INFN (main) ; NICPB, Tallinn)
We update instability and metastability bounds of the Standard Model electroweak vacuum in view of the recent ATLAS and CMS Higgs results. For a Higgs mass in the range 124--126 GeV, and for the current central values of the top mass and strong coupling constant, the Higgs potential develops an instability around $10^{11}$ GeV, with a lifetime much longer than the age of the Universe. Renormalization of dimension-six operators relevant for the Higgs decays $h\rightarrow \gamma\gamma,\gamma Z$

The discovery of the Higgs boson has opened a new window to test the SM through the measurements of its couplings. Of particular interest is the measured Higgs coupling to photons which arises in the SM at the one-loop level, and can then be significantly affected by new physics. [...]

Minimal Matter at the Large Hadron Collider
/ Del Nobile, Eugenio (Pisa U.) ; Franceschini, Roberto (ITPP, Lausanne ; EPFL, Lausanne) ; Pappadopulo, Duccio (ITPP, Lausanne ; EPFL, Lausanne) ; Strumia, Alessandro (Pisa U. ; CERN ; INFN, Pisa)
We classify all possible new U(1) x SU(2) x SU(3) multiplets that can couple to pairs of SM particles. Assuming that production of such new particles is dominated by their gauge interactions we study their signals at LHC, finding the following five main classes: i) lepto-quark 2l 2q signals; ii) di-lepton 4l signals; iii) di-quarks 4j signals, iv) heavy-lepton 2l 2V signals and v) heavy quarks 2j 2V signals, where V denotes heavy SM vectors (with W being associated to exotic fermions). Stabilization of the Electroweak Vacuum by a Scalar Threshold Effect
/ Elias-Miro, Joan (Barcelona, Autonoma U. ; Barcelona, IFAE) ; Espinosa, Jose R. (Barcelona, Autonoma U. ; Barcelona, IFAE ; ICREA, Barcelona) ; Giudice, Gian F. (CERN) ; Lee, Hyun Min (CERN) ; Strumia, Alessandro (INFN, Pisa ; Pisa U. ; NICPB, Tallinn)
We show how a heavy scalar singlet with a large vacuum expectation value can evade the potential instability of the Standard Model electroweak vacuum. The quartic interaction between the heavy scalar singlet and the Higgs doublet leads to a positive tree-level threshold correction for the Higgs quartic coupling, which is very effective in stabilizing the potential. Search for neutral Higgs bosons decaying into four taus at LEP2
/ ALEPH Collaboration
A search for the production and non-standard decay of a Higgs boson, h, into four taus through intermediate pseudoscalars, a, is conducted on 683 pb-1 of data collected by the ALEPH experiment at centre-of-mass energies from 183 to 209 GeV. No excess of events above background is observed, and exclusion limits are placed on the combined production cross section times branching ratio, \xi^2 = \sigma(e+e- --> Zh)/\sigma_{SM}(e+e- --> Zh) x B(h --> aa)x B(a --> \tau^+\tau^-)^2.
