Low-spin states in $^{80}$Ge populated in the $\beta$ decay of the $^{80}$Ga $3^-$ isomer / Sekal, S (Algiers U. Sci. Tech. ; CERN) ; Fraile, L M (Madrid U.) ; Lică, R (CERN ; Bucharest, IFIN-HH) ; Borge, M J G (Madrid, Inst. Estructura Materia) ; Walters, W B (Maryland U., Dept. Chem.) ; Aprahamian, A (Notre Dame U.) ; Benchouk, C (Algiers U. Sci. Tech.) ; Bernards, C (Yale U. (main) ; Cologne U.) ; Briz, J A (Madrid, Inst. Estructura Materia) ; Bucher, B (Idaho Natl. Lab.) et al.
The structure of  $^{80}$Ge has been investigated at the ISOLDE facility at CERN. A previous study reported for the first time a low-lying $0^+_2$ intruder state at 639 keV, based on the coincidence with a previously unobserved 1764-keV $γ$ ray, and suggested it as evidence for shape coexistence in $^{80}$Ge. Fast-timing study in the 78Ni region: $\beta$-Decay of 81Zn / Paziy, V (Madrid U.) ; Mach, H (Madrid U. ; Warsaw, Inst. Nucl. Studies) ; Fraile, L M (Madrid U.) ; Aprahamian, A (Notre Dame U.) ; Bernards, C (Yale U. ; Cologne U.) ; Briz, J A (Madrid U.) ; Bucher, B (Notre Dame U.) ; Chiara, C J (Argonne, PHY ; Maryland U., Dept. Chem.) ; Dlouhý, Z (Rez, Nucl. Phys. Inst.) ; Gheorghe, I (Bucharest, IFIN-HH) et al.
The neutron-rich nucleus $^{81}$Ga was populated from the $\beta$-decay of $^{81}$Zn produced at the ISOLDE (CERN) facility. The analysis of $\beta$-gated $\gamma$-ray singles and $\gamma-\gamma$ coincidences permits to extend significantly the level scheme of $^{81}$Ga as well as to provide a new half-life for $^{81}$Zn. The assignment of the first $2^+$ state in $^{62}$Ga has long been debated, due to its implications in triplet energy difference systematics in this mass region. An experiment has been performed at the IFIN-HH 9-MV Tandem accelerator using the ROSPHERE array in a mixed configuration of LaBr$_3$(Ce) and HPGe detectors, as well as an additional array of liquid scintillator neutron detectors. Search for the $^{73}\mathrm{Ga}$ ground-state doublet splitting in the $\beta$ decay of $^{73}\mathrm{Zn}$ / Vedia, V (UCM, Madrid, Dept. Phys.) ; Paziy, V (UCM, Madrid, Dept. Phys.) ; Fraile, L M (UCM, Madrid, Dept. Phys.) ; Mach, H (UCM, Madrid, Dept. Phys. ; NCBJ, Swierk) ; Walters, W B (Maryland U., Dept. Chem.) ; Aprahamian, A (Notre Dame U.) ; Bernards, C (Cologne U. ; Yale U. (main)) ; Briz, J A (Madrid, Inst. Estructura Materia) ; Bucher, B (Notre Dame U. ; LLNL, Livermore) ; Chiara, C J (Maryland U., Dept. Chem. ; Argonne, PHY) et al.
The existence of two close-lying nuclear states in $^{73}$Ga has recently been experimentally determined: a 1/2$^−$ spin-parity for the ground state was measured in a laser spectroscopy experiment, while a J$^{\pi} = 3/2^−$ level was observed in transfer reactions. This scenario is supported by Coulomb excitation studies, which set a limit for the energy splitting of 0.8 keV. [...]

The β− decay of Mg34 was used to study the Al34 nucleus through γ spectroscopy at the Isotope Separator On-Line facility of CERN. Previous studies identified two β-decaying states in Al34 having spin-parity assignments Jπ=4− dominated by the normal configuration π(d5/2)−1⊗ν(f7/2) and Jπ=1+ by the intruder configuration π(d5/2)−1⊗ν(d3/2)−1(f7/2)2. Detailed structure of Sn131 populated in the β decay of isomerically purified In131 states / IDS Collaboration
The excited structure of the single-hole nucleus Sn131 populated by the β− decay of In131 was investigated in detail at the ISOLDE facility at CERN. This new experiment took advantage of isomeric purification capabilities provided by resonant ionization, making it possible to independently study the decay of each isomer for the first time. [...]

Phys.) ; Andreyev, A N (York U., England) ; Benzoni, G (INFN, Milan) et al.
The levels in Sn129 populated from the β− decay of In129 isomers were investigated at the ISOLDE facility of CERN using the newly commissioned ISOLDE Decay Station (IDS). The lowest 1/2+ state and the 3/2+ ground state in Sn129 are expected to have configurations dominated by the neutron s1/2 (l=0) and d3/2 (l=2) single-particle states, respectively. [...]

Octupole states in $^{207}$Tl studied through $β$ decay / Berry, T A (Surrey U.) ; Podolyák, Zs (Surrey U.) ; Carroll, R J (Surrey U.) ; Lică, R (CERN ; Bucharest, IFIN-HH) ; Brown, B A (Michigan State U.) ; Grawe, H (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Sotty, Ch (Bucharest, IFIN-HH ; Leuven U.) ; Timofeyuk, N K (Surrey U.) ; Alexander, T (Surrey U.) ; Andreyev, A N (York U., England) et al.
The $β$ decay of $^{207}$Hg into the single-proton-hole nucleus $^{207}$Tl has been studied through $γ$-ray spectroscopy at the ISOLDE Decay Station (IDS) with the aim of identifying states resulting from coupling of the $πs^{−1}_{1/2}, πd^{−1}_{3/2},$ and $πh^{−1}_{11/2}$ shell model orbitals to the collective octupole vibration. Twenty-two states were observed lying between 2.6 and 4.0 MeV, eleven of which were observed for the first time, and 78 new transitions were placed. [...]

Investigation of the $\Delta n = 0$ selection rule in Gamow-Teller transitions: The $\beta$-decay of $^{207}$Hg / Berry, T A (Surrey U.) ; Podolyák, Zs (Surrey U.) ; Carroll, R J (Surrey U.) ; Lică, R (CERN ; Bucharest, IFIN-HH) ; Grawe, H ; Timofeyuk, N K (Surrey U.) ; Alexander, T (Surrey U.) ; Andreyev, A N (York U., England) ; Ansari, S (Cologne U.) ; Borge, M J G (CERN ; Madrid, Inst. Estructura Materia) et al.
Gamow-Teller $\beta$ decay is forbidden if the number of nodes in the radial wave functions of the initial and final states is different. This $\Delta n=0$ requirement plays a major role in the $\beta$ decay of heavy neutron-rich nuclei, affecting the nucleosynthesis through the increased half-lives of nuclei on the astrophysical $r$-process pathway below both $Z=50$ (for $N>82$ ) and $Z=82$ (for $N>126$).
