Fast Tracking for the ATLAS LVL2 Trigger / Baines, J T M (RAL, Diamond) ; Drevermann, H (CERN) ; Emeliyanov, D (RAL, Diamond) ; Konstantinidis, N P (University Coll. London) ; Parodi, F (INFN, Genoa) ; Schiavi, C (INFN, Genoa) ; Sutton, M (University Coll. London)
We present a set of algorithms for fast track reconstruction at the second level (LVL2) trigger of ATLAS, using three-dimensional space points (= hits) from the silicon trackers. The strategy is to determine the position z_0 of the interesting pp interaction along the beam axis prior to any track reconstruction and then retain only groups of hits which point back to that z_0 and perform combinatorial tracking only inside those groups. Implementation and Performance of the ATLAS Jet Trigger / Anjos, N (LIP)
The ATLAS trigger is organized in three levels: the first one (LVL1) is hardware based, while the High-Level Trigger (HLT) system, which groups the second (LVL2) and third (Event Filter, EF) trigger levels, is software based. The ATLAS jet trigger must accurately measure the jet energy, to distinguish high pT jets from low pT ones. [...]

First study of the LVL2-EF boundary in the high-pT electron/photon High-Level Trigger / Baines, J T M ; González, S ; Mommsen, R K ; Radu, A ; Shears, T G ; Sivoklokov, S Yu ; Wielers, M
In the ATLAS High-Level Trigger (HLT), the Level-2 and Event Filter stages can be seen as a set of modular selection algorithms that can migrate between the two trigger levels. [...]

Pattern recognition algorithms on FPGAs and CPUs for the ATLAS LVL2 trigger / Hinkelbein, C ; Kugel, A ; Männer, R ; Müller, M ; Sessler, Andrew M ; Simmler, H ; Singpiel, H
Recent studies of the level-two (LVL2) trigger of the ATLAS detector show that it will be possible to run the trigger algorithms at high luminosity with a reasonable number of general-purpose processors, using a sequential selection scheme and guidance from the Region-of- Interest (RoI) provided by the LVL1 trigger. The computing power requirements for B-physics, which is studied at low luminosity, are much greater than those at high luminosity as there is no LVL1- guidance for the track finding algorithms.
