Measurement and analysis of the $^{246}$Cm and $^{248}$Cm neutron capture cross-sections at the EAR2 of the n TOF facility / n_TOF Collaboration
The $^{246}$Cm(n,$\gamma$) and $^{248}$Cm(n,$\gamma$) cross-sections have been measured at the Experimental Area 2 (EAR2) of the n_TOF facility at CERN with three C$_6$D$_6$ detectors. This measurement is part of a collective effort to improve the capture cross-section data for Minor Actinides (MAs), which are required to estimate the production and transmutation rates of these isotopes in light water reactors and innovative reactor systems. [...]

Advances and new ideas for neutron-capture astrophysics experiments at CERN n_TOF / n_TOF Collaboration
This article presents a few selected developments and future ideas related to the measurement of $(n,\gamma)$ data of astrophysical interest at CERN n_TOF. The MC-aided analysis methodology for the use of low-efficiency radiation detectors in time-of-flight neutron-capture measurements is discussed, with particular emphasis on the systematic accuracy. High accuracy, high resolution $^{235}$U(n,f) cross section from n_TOF (CERN) from 18 meV to 10 keV / n_TOF Collaboration
The 235U(n,f) cross section was measured in a wide energy range (25 meV - 170 keV) at the n_TOF facility at CERN, relative to 6Li(n,t) and 10B(n,alpha) standard reactions, with high resolution and accuracy, with a setup based on a stack of six samples and six silicon detectors placed in the neutron beam. In this paper we report on the results in the region between thermal and 10 keV neutron energy. [...]

(Valencia U., IFIC) ; Domingo-Pardo, C. (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Calviño, F. (Barcelona, Polytechnic U.) ; Casanovas, A. (Barcelona, Polytechnic U.) et al.
i-TED is an innovative detection system which exploits Compton imaging techniques to achieve a superior signal-to-background ratio in ($n,\gamma$) cross-section measurements using time-of-flight technique. This work presents the first experimental validation of the i-TED apparatus for high-resolution time-of-flight experiments and demonstrates for the first time the concept proposed for background rejection. Understanding the direct detection of charged particles with SiPMs / Carnesecchi, F. (CERN) ; Vignola, G. (DESY) ; Agrawal, N. (INFN, Bologna) ; Alici, A. (Bologna U.) ; Antonioli, P. (INFN, Bologna) ; Arcelli, S. (Bologna U.) ; Bellini, F. (Bologna U.) ; Cavazza, D. (INFN, Bologna) ; Cifarelli, L. (Bologna U.) ; Colocci, M. (Bologna U.) et al.
In this paper evidence that the increased response of SiPM sensors to the passage of charged particles is related mainly to Cherenkov light produced in the protection layer is reported. The response and timing properties of sensors with different protection layers have been studied..

Measurements of the Cherenkov effect in direct detection of charged particles with SiPMs / Carnesecchi, F. (CERN) ; Sabiu, B. (Bologna U. ; INFN, Bologna) ; Strazzi, S. (Bologna U. ; INFN, Bologna) ; Vignola, G. (INFN, Bologna) ; Agrawal, N. (Bologna U. ; INFN, Bologna) ; Alici, A. (Bologna U. ; INFN, Bologna) ; Antonioli, P. (INFN, Bologna) ; Arcelli, S. (Bologna U. ; INFN, Bologna) ; Bellini, F. (Bologna U. ; INFN, Bologna) ; Cavazza, D. (INFN, Bologna) et al.
In this paper, different Silicon PhotoMultiplier (SiPM) sensors have been tested with charged particles to characterize the Cherenkov light produced in the sensor protection layer. A careful position scan of the SiPM response has been performed with different prototypes, confirming the large number of firing cells and proving almost full efficiency, with the SiPM filling factor essentially negligible. Strong enhancement of electromagnetic shower development induced by high-energy photons in a thick oriented tungsten crystal / Soldani, M. (INFN, Ferrara ; Ferrara U.) ; Bandiera, L. (Catania U. ; INFN, Milan) ; Charitonidis, N. (CERN) ; D'Alessandro, G.L. (CERN) ; De Salvador, D. (INFN, Legnaro ; Padua U.) et al.
We have observed a significant enhancement in the energy deposition by $25$--$100~\mathrm{GeV}$ photons in a $1~\mathrm{cm}$ thick tungsten crystal oriented along its $\langle 111 \rangle$ lattice axes. At $100~\mathrm{GeV}$, this enhancement, with respect to the value observed without axial alignment, is more than twofold. [...]

Measurement of the $^{244}Cm$ and $^{246}Cm$ neutron-induced capture cross sections at the n_TOF facility / Alcayne, V (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Kimura, A (JAERI, Tokai) ; Mendoza, E (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Cano-Ott, D (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Martínez, T (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Aberle, O (CERN) ; Andrzejewski, J (Lodz U.) ; Audouin, L (Orsay, IPN) ; Bécares, V (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Bacak, M (CERN ; IRFU, Saclay ; Vienna, Tech. U.) et al.
The neutron capture reactions of the $^{244}$Cm and $^{246}$Cm isotopes open the path for the formation of heavier Cm isotopes and heavier elements such as Bk and Cf in a nuclear reactor. In addition, both isotopes belong to the minor actinides with a large contribution to the decay heat and to the neutron emission in irradiated fuels. [...]

Coded masks for imaging of neutrino events / NU@FNAL Collaboration
The capture of scintillation light emitted by liquid Argon and Xenon under molecular excitations by charged particles is still a challenging task. Here we present a first attempt to design a device able to grab sufficiently high luminosity in order to reconstruct the path of ionizing particles. [...]

Measurement of the $^{14}$N(n,p)$^{14}$C cross section at the CERN n_TOF facility from sub-thermal energy to 800 keV / n_TOF Collaboration
Background: The $^{14}$N(n,p)$^{14}$C reaction is of interest in neutron capture therapy, where nitrogen-related dose is the main component due to low-energy neutrons, and in astrophysics, where 14N acts as a neutron poison in the s-process. Several discrepancies remain between the existing data obtained in partial energy ranges: thermal energy, keV region and resonance region. [...]
