Quantum computers offer an intriguing path for a paradigmatic change of computing in the natural sciences and beyond, with the potential for achieving a so-called quantum advantage, namely a significant (in some cases exponential) speed-up of numerical simulations. The rapid development of hardware devices with various realizations of qubits enables the execution of small scale but representative applications on quantum computers. [...]

CMS pythia  8 colour reconnection tunes based on underlying-event data / CMS Collaboration
New sets of parameter tunes for two of the colour reconnection models, quantum chromodynamics-inspired and gluon-move, implemented in the PYTHIA 8 event generator, are obtained based on the default CMS PYTHIA 8 underlying-event tune, CP5. Measurements sensitive to the underlying event performed by the CMS experiment at centre-of-mass energies $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 and 13 TeV, and by the CDF experiment at 1.96 TeV are used to constrain the parameters of colour reconnection models and multiple-parton interactions simultaneously. Model-independent measurement of charm mixing parameters in $\bar{B} \rightarrow D^0 ( \rightarrow K_S^0 \pi^+ \pi^-) \mu^- \bar{\nu}_\mu X$ decays / LHCb Collaboration
A measurement of charm mixing and $CP$-violating parameters is reported, using $\bar{B} \rightarrow D^0 ( \rightarrow K_S^0 \pi^+ \pi^-) \mu^-\bar{\nu}_\mu X$ decays reconstructed in proton-proton collisions collected by the LHCb experiment during the years 2016 to 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb$^{-1}$. The measured mixing and $CP$-violating parameters are $x_{\rm CP} = [ \,\,\,\,\,4.29 \pm 1.48 \mbox{(stat)} \pm 0.26 \mbox{(syst)} ] \times 10^{-3}\,, $ $y_{\rm CP} = [ \,\,12.61 \pm 3.12 \mbox{(stat)} \pm 0.83 \mbox{(syst)} ] \times 10^{-3} \,, $ $\Delta x \,\,= [ -0.77 \pm 0.93 \mbox{(stat)} \pm 0.28 \mbox{(syst)} ] \times 10^{-3} \,,$ $\Delta y \, = [ \,\,\,\,\,3.01 \pm 1.92 \mbox{(stat)} \pm 0.26 \mbox{(syst)} ] \times 10^{-3} \,.$ The results are complementary to and consistent with previous measurements. Measurement of the prompt $D^0$ nuclear modification factor in $p$Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}} = 8.16$ TeV / LHCb Collaboration
The production of prompt $D^0$ mesons in proton-lead collisions in the forward and backward configurations at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}} = 8.16~\mathrm{TeV}$ is measured by the LHCb experiment. The nuclear modification factor of prompt $D^0$ mesons is determined as a function of the transverse momentum $p_\mathrm{T}$, and rapidity in the nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass frame $y^*$. [...]

Nuclear modification factor of neutral pions in the forward and backward regions in $p$Pb collisions / LHCb Collaboration
The nuclear modification factor of neutral pions is measured in proton-lead collisions collected at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon of $8.16$ TeV with the LHCb detector. The $\pi^0$ production cross section is measured differentially in transverse momentum ($p_{T}$) for $1.5< p_{T} <10.0$ GeV and in center-of-mass pseudorapidity ($\eta_{CM}$) regions $2.5<\eta_{CM}<3.5$ (forward) and $-4.0<\eta_{CM}<-3.0$ (backward) defined relative to the proton beam direction.
