The AWAKE experiment had a very successful Run 1 (2016-8), demonstrating proton-driven plasma wakefield acceleration for the first time, through the observation of the modulation of a long proton bunch into micro-bunches and the acceleration of electrons up to 2 GeV in 10 m of plasma. [...]

A magnetic spectrometer to measure electron bunches accelerated at AWAKE / AWAKE Collaboration
A magnetic spectrometer has been developed for the AWAKE experiment at CERN in order to measure the energy distribution of bunches of electrons accelerated in wakefields generated by proton bunches in plasma. AWAKE is a proof-of-principle experiment for proton-driven plasma wakefield acceleration, using proton bunches from the SPS. [...]

The Advanced Proton Driven Plasma Wakefield Acceleration Experiment (AWAKE) aims at studying plasma wakefield generation and electron acceleration driven by proton bunches. It is a proof-of-principle R&D; experiment at CERN and the world's first proton driven plasma wakefield acceleration experiment. [...]

Experimental Study of Wakefields Driven by a Self-Modulating Proton Bunch in Plasma / AWAKE Collaboration
We study experimentally the longitudinal and transverse wakefields driven by a highly relativistic proton bunch during self-modulation in plasma. We show that the wakefields' growth and amplitude increases with increasing seed amplitude as well as with the proton bunch charge in the plasma. [...]

Simulation Studies of Intra-Train, Bunch-by-Bunch Feedback Systems at the International Linear Collider / Ramjiawan, Rebecca (JAI, UK ; CERN) ; Bett, Douglas (JAI, UK ; CERN) ; Bodenstein, Ryan (Jefferson Lab ; JAI, UK) ; Burrows, Philip (JAI, UK) ; Christian, Glenn (Diamond Light Source ; JAI, UK) ; Perry, Colin (JAI, UK)
The International Linear Collider (ILC) is a proposed electron-positron collider targeting collision energies from 250 GeV to 1 TeV. With design luminosities of order 10³⁴ cm²s⁻¹, a beam-based, intra-train feedback system would be required near the Interaction Point (IP) to provide nanometre-level stabilisation of the beam overlap in the collisions. Experimental study of extended timescale dynamics of a plasma wakefield driven by a self-modulated proton bunch / AWAKE Collaboration
Plasma wakefield dynamics over timescales up to 800 ps, approximately 100 plasma periods, are studied experimentally at the Advanced Wakefield Experiment (AWAKE). The development of the longitudinal wakefield amplitude driven by a self-modulated proton bunch is measured using the external injection of witness electrons that sample the fields. [...]

Analysis of Proton Bunch Parameters in the AWAKE Experiment / AWAKE Collaboration
A precise characterization of the incoming proton bunch parameters is required to accurately simulate the self-modulation process in the Advanced Wakefield Experiment (AWAKE). This paper presents an analysis of the parameters of the incoming proton bunches used in the later stages of the AWAKE Run 1 data-taking period. [...]
