One of the still open issues for the development of superconducting insertion devices is the understanding of the beam heat load. With the aim of measuring the beam heat load to a cold bore and the hope to gain a deeper understanding in the beam heat load mechanisms, a cold vacuum chamber for diagnostics is under construction. Beam heat load in superconducting wigglers / Casalbuoni, S. (KIT, Karlsruhe)
The beam heat load is a fundamental input parameter for the design of superconducting wigglers since it is needed to specify the cooling power. In this presentation I will review the possible beam heat load sources and the measurements of beam heat load performed and planned onto the cold vacuum chambers installed at different synchrotron light sources..

The beam heat load and the pressure in the vacuum chamber of the cold bore superconducting undulator installed at ANKA (ANgstrom source KArlsruhe) have been monitored for almost two years. Possible sources of the observed heat load could be synchrotron radiation from upstream magnets, image currents, electron and ion bombardment. [...]

A CLIC Damping Wiggler Prototype at ANKA: Commissioning and Preparations for a Beam Dynamics Experimental Program / Bernhard, Axel (KIT, Karlsruhe, IPE) ; Bragin, Alexey (Novosibirsk, IYF) ; Casalbuoni, Sara (KIT, Karlsruhe, IPE) ; Ferracin, Paolo (CERN) ; Garcia Fajardo, Laura (CERN) ; Gerstl, Stefan (KIT, Karlsruhe, IPE) ; Gethmann, Julian (KIT, Karlsruhe, IPE) ; Grau, Andreas (KIT, Karlsruhe, IPE) ; Huttel, Erhard (KIT, Karlsruhe, IPE) ; Khrushchev, Sergey (Novosibirsk, IYF) et al.
In a collaboration between CERN, BINP and KIT a prototype of a superconducting damping wiggler for the CLIC damping rings has been installed at the ANKA synchrotron light source. On the one hand, the foreseen experimental program aims at validating the technical design of the wiggler, particularly the conduction cooling concept applied in its cryostat design, in a long-term study. Beam heat load measurements in the cold bore superconductive undulator in ANKA / Casalbuoni, S (Institute for Synchrotron Radiation, Research Center Karlsruhe, Germany) ; Grau, A ; Hagelstein, M ; Zimmermann, F (CERN) ; Rossmanith, Robert ; Kostka, Barbara ; Mashkina, Elena ; Steffens, Erhard ; Bernhard, Axel ; Wollmann, Daniel et al.
Measurements of the beam-induced heat load in the ANKA cold-bore superconductive undulator are summarized. The strength of the two dominating effects, resistive wall heating and heating by electron bombardment, depends on the beam parameters and the gap width..

Measurement of heat flux in multi-layer insulated helium cryostats after loss of insulating vacuum / Weber, C (KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Henriques, A (CERN) ; Schirle, S (KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Grohmann, S (KIT, Karlsruhe)
The dimensioning of pressure relief devices (PRD) for cryogenic pressure equipment requires knowledge on the heat input at the maximum credible incident. In helium cryostats, this situation is typically defined by the loss of insulating vacuum (LIV), where the heat load is induced by desublimation and condensation of atmospheric air on the cryogenic surface.
