Towards Beam-Beam Simulations for FCC-ee
/ Kicsiny, Peter (CERN ; Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Buffat, Xavier (CERN) ; Iadarola, Giovanni (CERN) ; Pieloni, Tatiana (EPFL-ISIC, Lausanne) ; Schulte, Daniel (CERN) ; Seidel, Mike (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne ; PSI, Villigen)
The FCC-ee (Future Circular Collider) lepton collider is currently the most favored next generation research infrastructure project at CERN, aimed at studying properties of standard model particles with the highest precision ever. The chosen parameters of the machine yield unprecedented conditions which give rise to previously unseen dynamical effects during collisions. [...]

Benchmark and performance of beam-beam interaction models for XSUITE
/ Kicsiny, P (CERN ; Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Buffat, X (CERN) ; Iadarola, G (CERN) ; Schulte, D (CERN) ; Pieloni, T (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Seidel, M (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne)
The understanding of beam-beam effects, which influence the choice of the FCC-ee design parameters for several aspects, require sophisticated and high-performance numerical simulations. The self-consistent study of the interplay of nonlinear dynamical phenomena resulting from collisions in the machine is key to accurately assess its potential performance. [...]

Xsuite is a newly developed modular simulation package combining in a single flexible and modern framework the capabilities of different tools developed at CERN in the past decades, notably Sixtrack, Sixtracklib, COMBI and PyHEADTAIL. The suite consists of a set of Python modules (Xobjects, Xpart, Xtrack, Xcoll, Xfields, Xdeps) that can be flexibly combined together and with other accelerator-specific and general-purpose python tools to study complex simulation scenarios. Benchmarking of the Radiation Environment Simulations for CMS Experiment at LHC
/ Azhgirey, Igor L (Serpukhov, IHEP) ; Bozzato, Davide (CERN) ; Dabrowski, Anne E (CERN) ; Kicsiny, Peter (CERN) ; Kurochkin, Igor A (Serpukhov, IHEP) ; Mallows, Sophie (KIT, Karlsruhe, ETP) ; Riabchikova, Anastasiia D (Serpukhov, IHEP) ; Wanczyk, Joanna (CERN)
Radiation Simulations group of the Beam Radiation Instrumentation and Luminosity Project of the CMS experiment provide for CMS radiation environment and radiation effects simulation and benchmarking of these calculations with CMS data and other data from LHC measuring devices. We present some results of such benchmarking and the reliability analysis of the simulation procedures for radiation environment calculations at the LHC..

Landau Damping Studies for the FCC: Octupole Magnets, Electron Lens and Beam-Beam Effects
/ Tambasco, Claudia (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Arsenyev, Sergey (CERN) ; Barranco García, Javier (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Buffat, Xavier (CERN) ; Pieloni, Tatiana (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Rivkin, Leonid (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Schulte, Daniel (CERN)
Stability studies for the FCC-hh operational cycle are explored using Landau octupoles and electron lenses alone and in the presence of long-range as well as head-on beam-beam effects. Pros and cons of the various methods are compared and an optimum operational scenario to guarantee the maximum stability is proposed..

Development of Collimation Simulations for the FCC-ee

A collimation system is under study for the FCC-ee to protect the machine from the multi-MJ electron and positron beams and limit the backgrounds to the detectors. One of the key aspects of the collimation system design is the setup of simulation studies combining particle tracking and scattering in the collimators. [...]
