Momentum Compaction Factor Measurements in the Large Hadron Collider / Keintzel, Jacqueline (CERN ; Vienna, Tech. U.) ; Malina, Lukas (CERN) ; Tomás García, Rogelio (CERN)
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN and its planned luminosity upgrade, the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) demand well-controlled on- and off-momentum optics. Optics measurements are performed by analysing Turn-by-Turn (TbT) data of excited beams. [...]

Optics Measurement by Excitation of Betatron Oscillations in the CERN PSB / Maclean, Ewen H (CERN) ; Antoniou, Fanouria (CERN) ; Asvesta, Foteini (CERN) ; Bartosik, Hannes (CERN) ; Bracco, Chiara (CERN) ; Dilly, Joschua W (CERN) ; Fol, Elena (CERN) ; Garcia Morales, Hector (CERN) ; Hofer, Michael (CERN) ; Keintzel, Jacqueline (CERN) et al.
Optics measurement from analysis of turn-by-turn BPM data of betatron oscillations excited with a kicker magnet has been employed very successfully in many machines but faces particular challenges in the CERN PSB where BPM to BPM phase advances are sub-optimal for optics reconstruction. Experience using turn-by-turn oscillation data for linear optics measurements during PSB commissioning in2021 is presented, with implications for the prospect of such techniques in the PSB more generally..

Optics Measurements and Correction Plans for the HL-LHC / Persson, Tobias (CERN) ; Buffat, Xavier (CERN) ; Carlier, Felix (CERN) ; Coello de Portugal, Jaime Maria (PSI, Villigen) ; De Maria, Riccardo (CERN) ; Dilly, Joschua (CERN) ; Fol, Elena (CERN) ; Gamba, Davide (CERN) ; Garcia Morales, Hector (CERN) ; García-Tabarés Valdivieso, Ana (CERN) et al.
The High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) will require stringent optics correction to operate safely and deliver the design luminosity to the experiments. In order to achieve this, several new methods for optics correction have been developed. [...]

After more than 3 years of shutdown the LHC is again operational in 2022. Experience from the previous Long Shutdown (LS) has shown that the local errors in the triplet quadrupoles changed significantly between Run 1 and Run 2, and first measurements in 2022 unveil further changes. [...]

Prospects for optics measurements in FCC-ee / Keintzel, Jacqueline (CERN) ; Tomás García, Rogelio (CERN) ; Zimmermann, Frank (CERN)
Within the framework of the Future Circular Collider Feasibility Study, the design of the electron-positron collider FCC-ee is optimised, as a possible future double collider ring, currently foreseen to start operation during the 2040s. With close to 100 km of circumference and strong synchrotron radiation damping at highest beam energy, adequate beam measurements are needed to control the optics at the desired level. [...]

HE-LHC optics design options / Keintzel, Jacqueline (CERN ; TU Vienna) ; Crouch, Matthew (CERN) ; Hofer, Michael (CERN ; TU Vienna) ; Risselada, Thys (CERN) ; Tomás, Rogelio (CERN) ; Zimmermann, Frank (CERN) ; van Riesen-Haupt, Léon (Oxford U. ; JAI, UK)
The High Energy Large Hadron Collider (HE-LHC), a possible successor of the High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) aims at reaching a centre-of-mass energy of about 27 TeV using basically the same 16 T dipoles as for the hadron-hadron Future Circular Collider FCC-hh. Designing the HE-LHC results in a trade off between energy reach, beam stay clear as well as geometry offset with respect to the LHC. [...]

One possible future hadron collider design investigated in the framework of the Future Circular Collider (FCC) study is the High-Energy LHC (HE-LHC). Using the 16 T dipoles developed for the FCC-hh the center of mass energy of the LHC is set to increase to 27 TeV. [...]

Within the framework of the Future Circular Collider Feasibility and Design Study, the design of the electron-positron collider FCC-ee is being optimised, as a possible future double collider ring, currently foreseen to start operation during the 2040s. FCC-ee is designed to operate at four different energy stages, allowing for precision measurements: from the Z-pole up to above the ttbar-threshold. [...]
