X-ray imaging with gaseous detectors using the VMM3a and the SRS / Scharenberg, L (CERN ; Bonn U.) ; Bortfeldt, J (LMU Munich (main)) ; Brunbauer, F (CERN) ; Desch, K (Bonn U.) ; Garcia, F (Helsinki Inst. of Phys.) ; Hracek, M (CERN ; IEAP CTU, Prague) ; Janssens, D (CERN ; Vrije U., Brussels) ; Lisowska, M (CERN ; Wroclaw Tech. U.) ; Lupberger, M (Bonn U.) ; Muller, H (CERN) et al.
The integration of the VMM3a Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) into RD51’s Scalable Readout System (SRS) provides a versatile tool for the readout of Micro-Pattern Gaseous Detectors (MPGDs). With its self-triggered high-rate readout, its analogue part that allows to get information on the deposited energy in the detector, and its so-called neighbouring-logic that allows to recover information on the charge distribution, this new system has features of particular interest for digital X-ray imaging. The VMM3a is an Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) developed by the Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) for the readout of gaseous detectors at high energy collider experiments. Driven by its specifications and the possible use cases in a large variety of applications, the RD51 collaboration has decided to integrate the VMM3a into its Scalable Readout System (SRS). [...]

High-resolution X-ray imaging applications of hybrid-pixel photon counting detectors Timepix / Dudak, Jan (CTU, Prague ; IEAP CTU, Prague)
Medipix and Timepix type hybrid-pixel photon counting detectors were originally developed and intended as particle trackers at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. Nevertheless, the applicability of Medipix technology is much broader and exceeds the field of high energy physics. [...]

New architecture for the analog front-end of Medipix4 / Sriskaran, V (CERN ; Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Alozy, J (CERN) ; Ballabriga, R (CERN) ; Campbell, M (CERN) ; Egidos, N (CERN) ; Fernandez-Tenllado, J M (CERN) ; Heijne, E (CERN ; IEAP CTU, Prague) ; Kremastiotis, I (CERN) ; Koukab, A (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Llopart, X (CERN) et al.
The Medipix4 chip is the latest member of the family of Medipix pixel detector readout chips aimed at high rate spectroscopic X-ray imaging. Unlike its predecessors, it will be possible to tile the chip on all 4 sides permitting seamless large area coverage. [...]

Beamline Design for Plasma-Wakefield Acceleration Experiments at MAX IV / Svensson, Jonas Björklund (Lund U.) ; Ekerfelt, Henrik (Lund U.) ; Lundh, Olle (Lund U.) ; Mansten, Erik (Lund U., MAX-lab) ; Andersson, Joel (Lund U., MAX-lab) ; Kotur, Marija (Lund U., MAX-lab) ; Lindau, Filip (Lund U., MAX-lab) ; Thorin, Sara (Lund U., MAX-lab) ; Charles, Tessa K (CERN ; Melbourne U.)
The MAX IV Laboratory is a synchrotron radiation user facility located just outside the city of Lund, Sweden. The facility is made up of two storage rings, at 3 GeV and 1.5 GeV, respectively, and a linear accelerator, serving as a full-energy injector for the rings as well as a driver for the Short-Pulse Facility (SPF) located downstream of the extraction point to the 3 GeV ring. Radiation imaging with optically read out GEM-based detectors / Brunbauer, F M (CERN ; Vienna, Tech. U.) ; Lupberger, M (CERN) ; Oliveri, E (CERN) ; Resnati, F (CERN) ; Ropelewski, L (CERN) ; Streli, C (Vienna, Tech. U.) ; Thuiner, P (CERN) ; van Stenis, M (CERN)
Modern imaging sensors allow for high granularity optical readout of radiation detectors such as MicroPattern Gaseous Detectors (MPGDs). Taking advantage of the high signal amplification factors achievable by MPGD technologies such as Gaseous Electron Multipliers (GEMs), highly sensitive detectors can be realised and employing gas mixtures with strong scintillation yield in the visible wavelength regime, optical readout of such detectors can provide high-resolution event representations. Validation of CMOS Active Pixel Sensor with double readout rolling shutter architecture for charged particle tracking / Orsini, Fabienne (IRFU, Saclay) ; Degerli, Yavuz (IRFU, Saclay) ; Flouzat, Christophe (IRFU, Saclay) ; Guilloux, Fabrice (IRFU, Saclay) ; Venault, Philippe (IRFU, Saclay)
Rolling shutter readout is a classical architecture in CMOS Active Pixel Sensors (APS) usually well suited to reduce the power consumption in the active area of the sensor by activating only one row at a time for reset and readout operations. Its benefits are widely used from imaging sensors to high energy physics sensors where large sensing area and low power consumptions are an issue. [...]

Detecting elementary particles using hybrid pixel detectors at the lhc and beyond / Campbell, Michael (CERN)
At the CERN Large Hadron Collider bunches of high energy protons (and ions) collide at the heart of 4 massive experiments. Hybrid pixel detectors identify and tag individual particle tracks helping physicists to select the handful of interesting events from the millions created per second. [...]
