A power upgrade of the existing 8 kW solid-state driver amplifier is required for the acceleration of high intensity proton beams in the J-PARC 3 GeV rapid cycling synchrotron (RCS). The development of a 25 kW amplifier with gallium nitride (GaN) HEMTs and based on 6.4 kW modules is ongoing. [...]

The LHC Injector Upgrade (LIU) was launched in 2010 in synergy with the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) project.^2) It includes the consolidation/upgrade of the PS Booster RF systems:^3,4) all the existing ferrite-loaded RF cavities are being replaced with wideband RF systems during the 2019–2020 long shut down. The magnetic-annealed cores improve the cavity performance and reduce the number of the straight sections for RF systems. [...]

In the framework of the LHC Injectors Upgrade project (LIU), a complete replacement of the existing narrow-band rf systems of CERN PSB with wide-band magnetic alloy (MA) loaded rf systems is in progress. A single gap MA loaded rf system prototype, which uses solid-state power amplifier and includes fast rf feedback for beam loading compensation, has been installed in the J-PARC MR to investigate the system behavior with high intensity proton beams.
