HPC resource integration into CMS Computing via HEPCloud / Hufnagel, Dirk (Fermilab) ; Holzman, Burt (Fermilab) ; Mason, David (Fermilab) ; Mhashilkar, Parag (Fermilab) ; Timm, Steven (Fermilab) ; Tiradani, Anthony (Fermilab) ; Khan, Farrukh Aftab (Fermilab) ; Gutsche, Oliver (Fermilab) ; Bloom, Kenneth (U. Nebraska, Lincoln)
The higher energy and luminosity from the LHC in Run 2 have put increased pressure on CMS computing resources. Extrapolating to even higher luminosities (and thus higher event complexities and trigger rates) beyond Run3, it becomes clear that simply scaling up the the current model of CMS computing alone will become economically unfeasible. HEPCloud, a New Paradigm for HEP Facilities: CMS Amazon Web Services Investigation / Holzman, Burt (Fermilab) ; Bauerdick, Lothar A.T. Historically, high energy physics computing has been performed on large purpose-built computing systems. These began as single-site compute facilities, but have evolved into the distributed computing grids used today. [...]

The Diverse use of Clouds by CMS / Andronis, Anastasios (Ioannina U. ; CERN) ; Bauer, Daniela (Imperial Coll., London) ; Chaze, Olivier (CERN) ; Colling, David (Imperial Coll., London) ; Dobson, Marc (CERN) ; Fayer, Simon (Imperial Coll., London) ; Girone, Maria (CERN) ; Grandi, Claudio (INFN, Bologna) ; Huffman, Adam (Imperial Coll., London) ; Hufnagel, Dirk (Fermilab) et al.
The resources CMS is using are increasingly being offered as clouds. In Run 2 of the LHC the majority of CMS CERN resources, both in Meyrin and at the Wigner Computing Centre, will be presented as cloud resources on which CMS will have to build its own infrastructure. [...]

Using the CMS High Level Trigger as a Cloud Resource / Colling, David (Imperial Coll., London) ; Huffman, Adam (Imperial Coll., London) ; McCrae, Alison (CERN) ; Lahiff, Andrew (Rutherford) ; Grandi, Claudio (INFN, Bologna) ; Cinquilli, Mattia (CERN) ; Gowdy, Stephen (CERN) ; Coarasa, Jose Antonio (CERN) ; Tiradani, Anthony (Fermilab) ; Ozga, Wojciech (CERN) et al.
The CMS High Level Trigger is a compute farm of more than 10,000 cores. During data taking this resource is heavily used and is an integral part of the experiment's triggering system. [...]

A New Boson with a Mass of 125 GeV Observed with the CMS Experiment at the Large Hadron Collider / CMS Collaboration
The Higgs boson was postulated nearly five decades ago within the framework of the standard model of particle physics and has been the subject of numerous searches at accelerators around the world. Its discovery would verify the existence of a complex scalar field thought to give mass to three of the carriers of the electroweak force—the W+, W–, and Z0 bosons—as well as to the fundamental quarks and leptons. [...]

Observation of a new boson at a mass of 125 GeV with the CMS experiment at the LHC / CMS Collaboration
Results are presented from searches for the standard model Higgs boson in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=7 and 8 TeV in the CMS experiment at the LHC, using data samples corresponding to integrated luminosities of up to 5.1 inverse femtobarns at 7 TeV and 5.3 inverse femtobarns at 8 TeV. The search is performed in five decay modes: $\gamma\gamma$, ZZ, WW, $\tau^+ \tau^-$, and $b\bar{b}$. [...]
