Automatic PID performance monitoring applied to LHC cryogenics / Bradu, Benjamin (CERN) ; Blanco Viñuela, Enrique (CERN) ; Marti, Ruben (CERN) ; Tilaro, Filippo (CERN)
At CERN, the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) cryogenic system employs about 5000 PID (Proportional Integral Derivative) regulation loops distributed over the 27 km of the accelerator. Tuning all these regulation loops is a complex task and the systematic monitoring of them should be done in an automated way to be sure that the overall plant performance is improved by identifying the poorest performing PID controllers. Data analytics reporting tool for CERN SCADA systems / Seweryn, Piotr (CERN) ; Gonzalez-Berges, Manuel (CERN) ; Schofield, Brad (CERN) ; Tilaro, Filippo (CERN)
This paper describes the concept of a generic data analytics reporting tool for SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems at CERN. The tool is a response to a growing demand for smart solutions in the supervision and analysis of control systems data. [...]

Model learning algorithms for anomaly detection in CERN control systems / Tilaro, Filippo (CERN) ; Bradu, Benjamin (CERN) ; Gonzalez-Berges, Manuel (CERN) ; Roshchin, Mikhail (Siemens, Munich) ; Varela, Fernando (CERN)
The CERN automation infrastructure consists of over 600 heterogeneous industrial control systems with around 45 million deployed sensors, actuators and control objects. Therefore, it is evident that the monitoring of such huge system represents a challenging and complex task. [...]

An expert knowledge based methodology for online detection of signal oscillations / Tilaro, Filippo (CERN) ; Bradu, Benjamin (CERN) ; Gonzalez-Berges, Manuel (CERN) ; Roshchin, Mikhail (Siemens, Munich)
The CERN's accelerator complex and its experiments rely on the proper functioning of a multitude of heterogeneous industrial control systems. Over 600 industrial control systems with more than 40 million sensors, actuators and control objects store more than 100 terabytes of data per year (the volume of generated data is much more). [...]

Formalizing Expert Knowledge in Order to Analyse CERN's Control Systems / Voitier, Axel (CERN) ; Gonzalez-Berges, Manuel (CERN) ; Roshchin, Mikhail (Siemens, Munich) ; Tilaro, Filippo (CERN)
The automation infrastructure needed to reliably run CERN's accelerator complex and its experiments produces large and diverse amounts of data, besides physics data. Over 600 industrial control systems with about 45 million parameters store more than 100 terabytes of data per year. [...]

Siemens: Smart Technologies for Large Control Systems / TILARO, Filippo Maria (speaker) (CERN) ; BAKANY, Elisabeth (speaker) (Siemens/ETM)
The CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is known to be one of the most complex scientific machines ever built by mankind. Its correct functioning relies on the integration of a multitude of interdependent industrial control systems, which provide different and essential services to run and protect the accelerators and experiments. [...]
