Radiation Hard 3D Silicon Pixel Sensors for use in the ATLAS Detector at the HL-LHC / Heggelund, Andreas Løkken (Oslo U.) ; Huiberts, Simon (Bergen U.) ; Dorholt, Ole (Oslo U.) ; Read, Alexander Lincoln (Oslo U.) ; Røhne, Ole (Oslo U.) ; Sandaker, Heidi (Oslo U.) ; Lauritzen, Magne (Bergen U.) ; Stugu, Bjarne (Bergen U.) ; Kok, Angela (U. Oslo (main)) ; Koybasi, Ozhan (U. Oslo (main)) et al.
The High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) upgrade requires the planned Inner Tracker (ITk) of the ATLAS detector to tolerate extremely high radiation doses. Specifically, the innermost parts of the pixel system will have to withstand radiation fluences above $1\times10^{16}$$n_{eq}cm^{-2}$. [...]

Monte-Carlo simulation of positronium laser excitation and anti-hydrogen formation via charge exchange / AEgIS Collaboration
The AEgIS experiment aims at producing antihydrogen (and eventually measuring the effects of the Earth gravitational field on it) with a method based on the charge exchange reaction between antiproton and Rydberg positronium. To be precise, antiprotons are delivered by the CERN Antiproton Decelerator (AD) and are trapped in a multi-ring Penning trap, while positronium is produced by a nanoporous silica target and is excited to Rydberg states by means of a two steps laser excitation. [...]

We report on recent developments in positronium work in the frame of antihydrogen production through charge exchange in the AEgIS collaboration [1]. In particular, we present a new technique based on spatially imaging a cloud of positronium by collecting the positrons emitted by photoionization. [...]

Pulsed production of antihydrogen / Amsler, Claude (Stefan Meyer Inst. Antihydrogen atoms with K or sub-K temperature are a powerful tool to precisely probe the validity of fundamental physics laws and the design of highly sensitive experiments needs antihydrogen with controllable and well defined conditions. We present here experimental results on the production of antihydrogen in a pulsed mode in which the time when 90% of the atoms are produced is known with an uncertainty of ~250 ns. [...]

We describe a multi-step “rotating wall” compression of a mixed cold antiproton–electron non-neutral plasma in a 4.46 T Penning–Malmberg trap developed in the context of the AEḡIS experiment at CERN. Such traps are routinely used for the preparation of cold antiprotons suitable for antihydrogen production. [...]

Operation and performance of the ATLAS Tile Calorimeter in Run 1 / ATLAS Collaboration
The Tile Calorimeter is the hadron calorimeter covering the central region of the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. Approximately 10000 photomultipliers collect light from scintillating tiles acting as the active material sandwiched between slabs of steel absorber. [...]

A new methodology for very high-speed, energy-dispersive detection of X-ray fluorescence is being developed. The underlying reasoning behind it, as well as early results from the evaluation of the first prototype, is presented..

Prompt and non-prompt $J/\psi $ and $\psi (2\mathrm {S})$ suppression at high transverse momentum in $5.02~\mathrm {TeV}$ Pb+Pb collisions with the ATLAS experiment / ATLAS Collaboration
A measurement of $J/\psi$ and $\psi(2\mathrm{S})$ production is presented. It is based on a data sample from Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}$ = 5.02 TeV and $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 5.02 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC in 2015, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $0.42\mathrm{nb}^{-1}$ and $25\mathrm{pb}^{-1}$ in Pb+Pb and $pp$, respectively. Angular analysis of $B^0_d \to K^{*}\mu^+\mu^-$ decays in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}= 8$ TeV with the ATLAS detector / ATLAS Collaboration
An angular analysis of the decay $B^0_d \rightarrow K^{*}\mu^+\mu^-$ is presented, based on proton-proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. The study is using 20.3 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity collected during 2012 at centre-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV. [...]

Production of antihydrogen by using the charge exchange reaction, as proposed by AEgIS (Antimatter Experiment: gravity, Interferometry, Spectroscopy), requires the formation of a dense cloud of positronium atoms excited to Rydberg states. In this work, the recent advances in AEgIS towards this result are described. [...]
