In this paper we report on a set of characterisations carried out on the first monolithic LGAD prototype integrated in a customised 110 nm CMOS process having a depleted active volume thickness of 48 $\mu$m. This prototype is formed by a pixel array where each pixel has a total size of 100 $\mu$m $\times$ 250 $\mu$m and includes a high-speed front-end amplifier. [...]

The high-luminosity phase of operation of the CERN Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) will pose new challenges to the detectors and their readout electronics. In particular, the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) barrel electromagnetic calorimeter will require a full redesign of the electronic readout chain in order to cope with the increase in luminosity and trigger rate. / Greco, Michela (Turin U. ; INFN, Turin) ; Alexeev, Maxim (Turin U. ; INFN, Turin) ; Bugalho, Ricardo (Unlisted, PT) ; Chai, Junying (INFN, Turin ; Turin Polytechnic) ; Cossio, Fabio (INFN, Turin ; Turin Polytechnic) ; Da Rocha Rolo, Manuel Dionisio (INFN, Turin) ; Di Francesco, Agostino (LIP, Lisbon) ; Leng, Chongyang (INFN, Turin ; Turin Polytechnic) ; Li, Huaishen (INFN, Turin ; Beijing, Inst. High Energy Phys.) ; Maggiora, Marco (Turin U. ; INFN, Turin) et al.
TIGER (aka Torino Integrated Gem Electronics for Readout) is the ASIC designed at INFN-Torino for the front-end electronics of a cylindrical triple GEM detector, proposed to replace the inner tracker of BESIII spectrometer (Beijing Electron Spectrometer). The high luminosity of the collider, operational at the Institute of High Energy Physics in Beijing (IHEP), allows to measure states of charmonium and open charm, to carry out light hadrons spectroscopy and to study $\tau$ lepton physics, but it caused aging and degradation problems to the tracking performance. Gas detector development is one of the pillars of the research in fundamental physics. Since several years, a new concept of detectors, called Micro Pattern Gas Detector (MPGD), allowed to overcome several problems related to other types of commonly used detectors, like drift chamber and micro strips detectors, reducing the rate of discharges and providing better radiation tolerance.
