The Large Hadron-Electron Collider at the HL-LHC / FCC-he Study Group Collaboration
The Large Hadron electron Collider, LHeC, is the means to move deep inelastic physics following HERA to the energy frontier of particle physics as it is being exploited by the HL-LHC. The paper presents a thorough update of the initial LHeC Conceptual Design Report (CDR) published in 2012. [...]

Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Orsay, LAL) et al.
PERLE is a proposed high power Energy Recovery Linac, designed on multi-turn configuration, based on SRF technology, to be hosted at Orsay-France in a collaborative effort between local laboratories: LAL and IPNO, together with an international collaboration involving today: CERN, JLAB, STFC ASTeC Daresbury, Liverpool University and BINP Novosibirsk. PERLE will be a unique leading edge facility designed to push advances in accelerator technology, to provide intense and highly flexible test beams for component development. [...]

802 MHz ERL Cavity Design and Development / Marhauser, F (Jefferson Lab) ; Castagnola, S (Jefferson Lab) ; Clemens, W A (Jefferson Lab) ; Dail, J G (Jefferson Lab) ; Dhakal, P (Jefferson Lab) ; Fors, F (Jefferson Lab) ; Henry, J (Jefferson Lab) ; Rimmer, R A (Jefferson Lab) ; Turlington, L (Jefferson Lab) ; Williams, R S (Jefferson Lab) et al.
In the framework of a collaboration between CERN and JLab, an SRF accelerating cavity for energy recovery linacs operating at 802 MHz was developed in the context of the CERN's Large Hadron electron Collider (LHeC) design study. A single-cell and a five-cell cavity from fine grain high RRR niobium were built at JLab to validate the basic RF design in vertical tests. [...]

PERLE (Powerful ERL for Experiments) is a novel ERL test facility, initially proposed to validate choices for a 60 GeV ERL foreseen in the design of the LHeC and the FCC-eh. Its main thrust is to probe high current, CW, multi-pass operation with superconducting cavities at 802 MHz (and perhaps testing other frequencies of interest). [...]

PERLE: Powerful Energy Recovery Linac for Experiments - Conceptual Design Report / Angal-Kalinin, D. (Daresbury) ; Arduini, G. (CERN) ; Auchmann, B. (CERN) ; Bernauer, J. (MIT) ; Bogacz, A. (Jefferson Lab) ; Bordry, F. (CERN) ; Bousson, S. (Orsay, IPN) ; Bracco, C. (CERN) ; Brüning, O. (CERN) ; Calaga, R. (CERN) et al.
A conceptual design is presented of a novel ERL facility for the development and application of the energy recovery technique to linear electron accelerators in the multi-turn, large current and large energy regime. The main characteristics of the powerful energy recovery linac experiment facility (PERLE) are derived from the design of the Large Hadron electron Collider, an electron beam upgrade under study for the LHC, for which it would be the key demonstrator.
