The CMS experiment at LHC will upgrade its forward muon spectrometer by incorporating Triple-GEM detectors. This upgrade referred to as GEM Endcap (GE1/1), consists of adding two back-to-back Triple-GEM detectors in front of the existing Cathode Strip Chambers (CSC) in the innermost ring of the endcap muon spectrometer. Beam test evaluation of electromagnetic calorimeter modules made from proton-damaged PbWO$_4$ crystals
/ Adams, T (Florida State U., Tallahassee (main)) ; Adzic, P (Belgrade U.) ; Ahuja, S (Sao Paulo, IFT) ; Anderson, D (Caltech) ; Andrews, M B (Carnegie Mellon U.) ; Antropov, I (Ecole Polytechnique) ; Antunovic, Z (Split U.) ; Arcidiacono, R (INFN, Turin ; Moscow, ITEP) ; Arenton, M W (Virginia U.) ; Argiro, S (INFN, Turin ; Moscow, ITEP) et al.
The performance of electromagnetic calorimeter modules made of proton-irradiated PbWO(4) crystals has been studied in beam tests. The modules, similar to those used in the Endcaps of the CMS electromagnetic calorimeter (ECAL), were formed from 5×5 matrices of PbWO(4) crystals, which had previously been exposed to 24 GeV protons up to integrated fluences between 2.1× 10(13) and 1.3× 10(14) cm(−)(2). The Detector Control System (DCS) of the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment ran with high availability throughout the first physics data-taking period of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). This was achieved through the consistent improvement of the control software and the provision of a 24-hour expert on-call service. [...]

The first long shutdown of the Large Hadron Collider (LS1, 2013-2015) provided an opportunity for significant upgrades of the detector control and safety systems of the CMS Electromagnetic Calorimeter. A thorough evaluation was undertaken, building upon experience acquired during several years of detector operations. [...]

/for the CMS Collaboration
The Detector Control System of the CMS Electromagnetic Calorimeter has undergone significant improvements during the first LHC Long Shutdown. Based on the experience acquired during the first period of physics data taking of the LHC, several hardware projects were carried out to improve data accuracy, to minimise the impact of failures and to extend remote control possibilities in order to accelerate recovery from problematic situations. The Electromagnetic Calorimeter (ECAL) is one of the sub-detectors of the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. The Detector Control System (DCS) that had been developed and implemented for the CMS ECAL was deployed in accordance with the LHC schedule and has been supporting the CMS data-taking since LHC physics runs started in 2009.
